It's an old game, so... yeah it's the highest it can go in the year 2002. :s

That's not true.
Go into Properties - General - Set Launch Options and type in:

nointro=true width=1920 height=1080 zonematch=true

This will set the resolution to 1920x1080 (change these numbers to anything you want). Note that the menu will stay in the old resolution, but once you enter the game, you should see a difference.

is there a way to scale the UI with it?

I bought my DS2 and Broken World expansions from a store and not Steam.
before I had to reinstall WIndows 7, the game was full screen, and now I just reinstalled everything and I'm getting a "box" that the game is running in, I already tried changing the .ini on both DS2 and BW, and I'm still getting the box resolution.

Anybody know how to fix this??
thanks

If you're encountering an offset game screen when changing the resolution, the cause of that seems to be the Windows 10 screen scaling (ie: Display 125% of normal).

I was able to fix this offset in one of two ways: either set the Windows Display Settings scaling to 100%, or locate the DungeonSiege.exe - right click to open the File Properties, go to the Compatibility tab and select the Change high DPI settings box. Next set Override high DPI scaling behaviour and set it to Application.

Thanks for looking into it, gonna add it to my document: https://github.com/GenesisFR/DS1TroubleshootingGuide#game-screen-is-offset

No, unfortunately the UI scales with the resolution and cannot be independently changed. There are some mods on the Nexus that claim to be able to change the UI however I have never seen them working correctly.

I had to create my own shortcut to do this but it worked. Thank you!
