Dungeon Siege 1 is a highly memorable and amazing RPG despite it's clicky grindy slow pace, however, if you didn't grow up playing it it might not hit you the same way as it did the rest of us. Nonetheless I highly recommend it, this was my LAN dungeon crawl for about 5 years straight

I fully agree with Narwhal, I used to play this when I was younger and I'm consider rebuying it now, since the original got a few scratches.

Many critics complained that it played more like an interactive movie, since it was so easy. But playing it in coop with a good friend was immense fun ;-)

The first two games are really great. The third one...I mean if you want an rpg its ok but if you want another ARPG like the first two games then its not that great.

A long time ago I played DS-1, only partways through though, because at some point I found it becoming to much of a dungeon crawl and figured that was what inspired it's name. It was fun though, I liked how your character improved abilities based on usage rather then selection. If you don't mind the dungeon crawl, the gameplay was quite fun.

Am I the only one who prefers the structured design of a Dungeon Crawl? There is nothing in a game I hate more than when they suddenly open up into an open plan sand-box like realm and forget to tell you where the hell you're supposed to go.

Also, while I can't say anything about Dungeon Siege 3, I do know you should avoid Space Siege, which tragically put me off the Dungeon Siege franchise up until this point.

I certainly enjoyed it as a kid, however I don't believe there is anymore multiplayer, unless you want to do a LAN thing?

Play Divine Divinity. That one might change your mind. Easily one of the best ARPGs ever made.

I'm still waiting for the sequel to Dungeon Siege.

I enjoyed sandbox and linear games, as long as both give enjoyment. It took about 2 years to finish DS1, but I kept coming back and playing and can say with satisfaction that it's one of the few PC games I've actually finished.

@ Armatus, what do you mean you're waiting for the sequel ? Maybe on Steam?

I know many people want a Steam version so you can always just download and play it on another PC in the future, but Legends of Aranna (the sequel) is still available by CD or DVD in some used game merchants online or locally if you get lucky.

I don't consider DS2 or DS3 acceptable sequels for Dungeon Siege.
