"And not a single person answered." They'll never come out with the expansions, i've found a way to make the disc versions of them pick up for the steam version, though.
I'm mean seriously he doesn't have 7 bucks? I popped for it last night on Steam even though I have my original copies.
If that's what it takes to get a big player involved in negoiations then let's do it, or start a petition to Steam to acquire the license to resell it.
Currently the issues are (as I see them) :
1. No official patches for the base game.
2. No multiplayer map packs for single player (Utraean Peninsula, Yesterhaven)
3. No expansion (Legends of Aranna & bonus pack: Return to Arhok)
4. No multiplayer support
5. Siege editor?
6. ?
Edit: That's all for DS1 of course, not sure about DS2 so someone else will have to come with that list on that. As for online multiplay, I realize that's probably not going to happen, but at least we should get the bonus packs to be able to host our own LAN or direct connect games with them.
1. All of you have failed to read the forum threads, then. Multiplayer is possible on here through a small registry edit with the Steam files for the game.
2. Do you know how many threads have made petitions for rhe expansions? It just won't happen. Let it go.
Point me to a petition that was formally made by the community.
Type the keyword petition into the discussion board. This is especially supportive of the DS2 threads, which rallys both games into needing the expansions. It's just a lost cause. They don't look on these forums. They have better things to do.
I'm telling you, there have been various petitions. I've been on these forums for a long time. They've probably been removed.
Yours wouldn't be an exception to this.
Perhaps they've been removed as you say... so as you have been here and seen them are you telling me there was no response? They were just deleted? How many were in support? I have a hard time buying that sorry. To say they left these threads, but deleted those with considerable community investment as some sort of crack down sounds immature.
I also highly doubt based on my knowledge of the average gamer petition that it was done with any sort of professionalism, again that is IF it ever was in fact truly attempted beyond some random ranting in this forum.
One thing's certain people are still playing it. Check the in-game status on the two largest community groups. Dungeon Siege Veteran's group has 20 people playing this old ass unpopular game and another 65 members online out of 346 total. There are 58 members of the official group online, 14 of which are in game out of 210 total. Granted some such as myself are members of both. Additionally these are just numbers for Dungeon Siege 1, I haven't even looked at 2.
I believe there are other groups as well as other members who either own or play occasionally that aren't accounted for. That is small, but not dead and certainly not in comparison to all but the most popular games just looking over other gaming groups.
Since this community appears to have accepted defeat it would take me a bit to rally the numerous members who have posted and are still playing and unaccounted for.
I guess it's up to the community. I certainly can't do it alone and the attitude I'm getting so far is give up.
Even recently released FF8. It has midi music. A lot of people are asking for them to patch the music to decent version. But nope. They have no plans on doing it.
And do those community members play dungeon siege or they play a game in general? I am also in one of those groups simply because I love DS1. I don't own it on Steam.
