Dungeon Siege

Zoom Level
After changing the resoultion to 1080p, the camera zoom level has increased, and I cannot seem to zoom out to the distance I previously could. Does anyone know any way to fix this?

There are mods somewhere out there. I think ds.gemsite.org might have one or two.
Unfortunately there seem to be only two mods, and neither works.

The primary camera controls are stored in the maps themselves, that is the fov and zoom.
This means in order to change the max zoom distance and fov you'd have to download tank viewer extract the maps, and edit the file that controls those variables to how you see fit, and then save the map. The reason the mods that change these settings don't work is because they are resource files, and the game treats them thusly, not as a map mod as the mod developers intended.

Yeah its as I thought, I unpackaged the singleplayer map Kingdon of Ehb, and placed in a modified main.gas(the camera settings) then repackaged it. This particular modifcation doubled the zoom distance and allowed you to move the camera perpendicular to the ground. Fortunately older saves still work on the repackaged map, unfortunately the camera settings changed don't apply.

I can link you to the mod on my google drive, but I need your input to what would be acceptable.

I can change just about any settings, even forcing the game to load an entire region, or remove the fog:

note: the third pic is very gpu heavy, ds 1 is not very well optimized for graphics cards, but cpu is pretty good, i get about 60 fps in the top one even though the ai, and other stuff is being processed by cpu

this looks really good! the first image is just a bit too much zoom imo... also the camera angle doesn't have to be that low either about 5 - 10 degrees would be nice :) would love it if you shared this mod with us :)

I was planning on starting a new game anyways so I'll just edit the map file myself. Thank you for the information.

The main reason I'm asking for advice is that I'm not sure you can play the whole campaign using the current form of my mod. It looks like its just fine right now but....

I'm still not sure of the cause unfortunately, and it only affects those 2 regions as far as I know. The crypts completely break though, the engine can't decide which region you are in so nodes will randomly unload. Obviously you could most likely safely reduce the size of the frustum and you'd most likely be ok.

Some more screenshots + the mod(Mod folder)

The seeVERYfar.dsres modifies the fog values, sets them 5000 near, and 9000 far it was really an experiment to see the effect. I changed those values for both the MP map and Kingdom of Ehb, but changing the MP map's frustum size will be tricky at best, impossible at worst because each region has its own frustum size. The only file I changed on Kingdom of Ehb was main.gas, this controls all the camera settings and frustum sizes.

All old saves are still compatible on the modified map, but any changes won't apply to those saves.

edited to reduce confusion

So there is no way to see a full map without just fumbling around trying to retrace your steps?

The fog settings for single player are in:
Resources\Logic.dsres -> world\global\moods\default_moods.gas
Resources\Logic.dsres -> world\global\moods\map_world\moods1.gas

The google drive link above is no longer available, so it took some digging for me to find how out to remove the grey fog. In each of the moods I just added 100 to the distances. I have not tested in all locations yet.

Any chance to get some additional information to fix camera zoom? I didn't get the thing with unpackaging and the link doesn't work anymore, alas.
