Direct Play Directx8/9 FIX No more errors or installation prompts on startup! (Win 8/10)

A week or more ago I made another thread about a problem myself and a few other people were having when adding the "zonematch=true" command to the launch area. It can also happen simply by trying to launch the game without editing the launch options, but that problem seems more likely to occur with retail copies. That being said, go ahead and create a folder, name it Directx9, in that folder create another named files..

Now go here and download this https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=8109 (You may uncheck every other option, in fact you probably should) once you have the file drop it in the Directx folder you just made and then double click to begin the installation process.

It will ask where you wish to install the files, and of course that is where our "Files" folder within the Directx9 folder comes into play. Install it in there. After that is completed go inside the Files folder and locate DXSETUP.. Install this.. as it is basically Directx9 which is one of the reasons we are getting the error for Dungeon Siege and many other titles. (GTA San Andreas and a plethora of other early 2000's titles)

With that done you will then need to disable your antivirus.. Don't panic.. It is only for a moment.. as Direct Play cannot be installed otherwise..

Now, go to Programs and Features, once there click the button to the left that says "Turn windows features on or off" This will bring up a menu with a bunch of folders.. Scroll down until you see "Legacy Components" expand the box and check it along with Direct Play.. It will now install.. Hopefully you have disabled your antivirus as otherwise you will get hit with a big fat error.

That's it! You should be able to add zonematch=true without any Direct Play errors, just grab hamachi or whatever custom networking program you use and go play with friends!
