How to Bind a Key to a Command-Line Argument in Dungeon Siege?
I want to bind a keyboard shortcut to to toggle between the command-line arguments "-GUI" and "+GUI", which would turn the HUD off and on, respectively. So how is that done in Dungeon Siege, what are the commands and the syntax, please?

Sadly these commands: -gui and +gui work only with Dungeon siege 2 AND DungeonSiege2Mod.exe (Dungeon Siege II Tool Kit) ...
- Turn OFF or ON the HUD and inventory (not 100% sure for the inventory) ...
To use DungeonSiege2Mod.exe: you must to have original CD (or DVD). And very hard to use it with Windows 8 or/and Windows 10 (but it's not impossible)

With Dungeon Siege 1 + LOA: DSLOAMod.exe or DSMod.exe (Dungeon Siege Tool Kit). So for this game and tool: only one command:
bool gui [toggle the gui (Graphical User Interface) (default gui on)]
Again you must to have original CD
Works perfectly with my Windows 8.1 64 bits

Nah, because "-GUI" & "+GUI" work in Dungeon Siege in-game in the console (press [ENTER], type command-line argument, and then press [ENTER] again). Yeah, that works; I can do that.

But I wanted to bind those to a single toggling hotkey like an OFF/ON button, or one, single keystroke.

Ok sorry. I will try your trick but find a "OFF/ON button" or "Keystroke" inside a console (in-game): good luck ...

Find? I wonder what would be the syntax of such a command so that I could type it into the console to set it for that game-session, or put it into some .INI or other configuration file to set it permanently across all future game-sessions I play, hmm.... ??? Hm, yeah I'm wondering about that, while trying to find exactly that, hmm....

THE QUEST FOR A COMMAND-LINE ARGUMENT AND ITS SYNTAX ACROSS YON LAND OF CYBERSPACE begins!...

Aw, great! Not as good as the other Quests in the game, yaaah! As if I didn't have enough of those already! Perhaps if the answer was rather easier to find, hmm....

Try to add the console command in "C:\Users\username\Documents\Dungeon Siege LOA\Keys\current.gas". Duplicate one of the sections, rename it to the command and change the key, I doubt it'll work though.

You want commands "-GUi & +GUI" to take (nice) pictures?

And yes: just do that:
A screenshot can be taken by hitting the "Print Screen" button. Holding down "shift" while pressing "Print Screen" will take a screenshot free of user interface elements. The screenshots will be saved to the hard drive and a message will appear to indicate that the screenshot has been successfully saved.

If not sorry (again).
Note: Command: -GUI: mouse don't work for me ...

Hey, thanks! But also sometimes I want to turn off the HUD because the game looks better when it's off.

That's very odd. That switches the HUD OFF. It works, no problem in my copy of the game from Steam, neither OFF (-) nor ON (+), no problem except having to type all that into the console, instead of pressing a toggle-button on the keyboard whilest playing the game.

But I don't know why that's not working in your copy of the game. ???

I'll have a look, thanks for the link, man hehehehehe

Heh, it didn't, although I didn't really know what command to type in. I tried [gui] and [toggle_gui], but neither worked hehehehehehe

Ok good news: my mouse work (very) good (like usual) ... with -GUI

Try these with current.gas:
1) add_gui
2) bool_gui
3) exec [commandname] ??? : execute the existing command by name

But who knows what the commands and syntax actually are? Or, at least how to bind a key to toggling the HUD on and off? ???

One more thing: you can also use Clipboard Manager for Windows like ...
Like : Ditto, Clipboard, Clipclip, Clipboard Master, Clipboard Fusion, etc, etc

For Ditto :
CRTL + Q = +DRDEATH
CTRL + W = +CHECKSINTHEMAIL
CTRL + A = +SIXDEMONBAG
CTRL + S = +FAERTEHBADGAR
CTRL + Z = +GUI
CTRL + X = -GUI

All "keyboard shortcuts" work perfectly - For Ditto: 10 max!
Of course you must open console with ENTER and close it again with ENTER
No escape ... and forget current.gas ...

You can automate pressing Enter, typing a command and pressing Enter again with AutoHotkey, that'll require some scripting though.

Yeah, "IF"! This "quest" sucks! I not find anything yet! Sure wish I could use a key to toggle the HUD on and off in Dungeon Siege, yep, sure do!
