About bag space
I originally only played the trial version of this game and I find the path to the very first shop in the game to be far waya to the point where even if you try to rush to the first town in the game from the farm, you will fill up bag space and still need to drop items even before reaching the woman in the crypt area who would provide more bag space. But now I will go for the main game, but if I were to do the side objectives on the path to the first town, I would not have the needed bag space, so this new run I went straight for the town, then I can go back to do ther other side quests. Otherwise the bag gets full very quickly and some items are very long and take so much space. The shops give you too little cash for selling items and getting enough to afford anything not to mention the items requiring a lot of high stats to even use them in that first shop but it does have a few items to use. Then while using certain items there is experience points to get for the skill for that item, so I wish they allow us to cross that broken bridge in the beginning so we can get to the town sooner, but its an old game and requires going through that crypt area to reach the town, but once the town is reached and the bag space is recovered by selling most of those items, now I can casually play through the game, go battle some monsters and return to the city to keep space available in the bag.

The merchants in this game are carefully spaced out so that your inventory becomes full right before/after you reach the next merchant. You don't have to pick up everything, you can ignore some of the common items which are barely worth anything. While it's tempting to buy items at merchants, most of the loot you find will be enough to finish the game comfortably.

If I throw items on the map, can they be recovered later?

I found out on my 2nd playthrough that they disappear after leaving the area for like 15-30min.

Invest in the Nature spell `Transmute'...allows you to turn items om the ground into gold. Not a lot to start, but beats leaving them to rot on the ground...

Transmute? This question is about the early game, once we get to stonebridge, the situation gets better since I can keep going back until all the enemies (in dungeons and outside) between towns are defeated. How early in the game is this spell available?
