Yo! Hey guys, so officially there are no plans to add controler support at this time! The reason being (as some of you clever buggers figured out) that the game was made with clicking/tapping in mind so using a controler means taking away something the game was MADE FOR. Now that's not saying it's impossible for them to add support, BUTTTTT as of now it's a no.

There's a Steam Controller profile for this game that works like a dream, so if you have a Steam Controller you will be fine. You move with the analog stick, trigger to interact with whatever is in front of you, and trackpad works as a mouse for when you need to point at something. Been playing for hours like this and it is totally fine.

So if you have Steam Controller you'll be good, it's only other controllers that you have to worry about. Also the devs could probably take a look at the profile to see how the game is not really that far away from being controller-friendly.

I may get it and try the Steam Controller profile. I even made a sorta-working controller profile for Diablo 2. The only issue being that moving requires making small clicks in front of the character, which would incorrectly interact with loot or doors, sometimes. As a quick proof-of-concept, it works.

For a very long time, people said the same about Don't Starve and not working with a controller due to it being point-and-click. Now, I don't even remember what mouse and keyboard feels like, in that game, due to playing it so much on PS4 and Steam (with an Xbox One controller). Just try Don't Starve, devs, and it won't take you very long to realize a game like this can be done with a typical controller (i.e. PS4, Xbox One).

You don't need a controller. It works miraculously with the mouse. Very simple controls. They announced recently that controller support is planned in the future. This game rocks! It's more than worth it. There's alot of content and fun.

Hey Jordan, game looks great as is of course but man, I would buy it instantly if it had controller support. Same goes for many gamers willing to purchase your game.

Please consider adding tgis feature (even partial Xbox gamepad would be sufficient).
Thank you.

Actually there already is controller support. You just have to activate the controller beta version trough your steam-game settings. Have fun.

Hey! That was from awhile ago haha. Thing have changed a bit and the developers have been working hard on getting controller support into the game (and might I add it looks goooood). Right now there is a beta channel open on steam for those who want to help test out the controller input! If you have any more questions feel free to let me know :)

Hey Jordan. Sorry for resurrecting this post, but I've been having a blast with Crashlands on mobile, and it does support my controller out of the box on Android, and then I saw it on sale on Steam, so I definitely gave it a buy. Problem is, it does not support my controller.
I'm running Steam on Linux Mint (which is based on Ubuntu 16.04) with Xbox profile support. It works on Borderlands 2, Borderlands TPS, Don't Starve, Tomb Raider, but Crashlands.
And I know, it is supposed to be played with the mouse as stated before, but controller support doesn't compromise the gameplay.
So yeah, no controller support for Crashlands on Linux. Is that going to change in the future?

I've just tried the game and was dissapointed to see that my 360 gamepad was not working on linux. Then I switch to the beta branch and it works great. It would be nice to be able to adjust the dead zone but other wise, it works out of the box.

Edit: I missed the deadzone slider in the main menu. So it's perfect for me.

@SkiskiLivewhen you say that you switched to the betabranch, are you mentioning the game's beta version? If so, how did you manage to do that?

NVM, I managed to find out myself. Thanks for the hint though!
