Mother Duck - Gathering Hope quest
The quest instructions seem to be missing an important piece of information.

It says to gather some stuff so I can build something to make my Wompat larger.

What am I supposed to gather and build, please? I must have missed it when they first told me about this, and the quest instructions don't explain it completely.

Thanks!

That's the one I am currently doing - You are to make a garter for your wompat (made at the skin station I believe).

What you need to gather are the Wompat essences from the big Wompats

Ok, thanks! I see the garter now. Holy cow! 120+ flatstones and some Sterling Wompat Essence, whatever that is. I have no idea where to find Wompat Essence. I have killed quite a few big wompats, but no essence drops. Maybe I'm not killing the ones big enough!

This looks to be a long term quest. I love this game!

Yeah you need to kill the Sterling ones - large black coloured ones

Discoloured enemies will drop an essence of their species when they die. Both Flatstones and Discoloured enemies become more common further out.

This seemed to be one of the grindier quests. Lots of flatstone required for it. gotta kill the darkies though.

Is the garter worth making?

Depends on what you mean by worth it. Some people like to level up all the pets, to them it's worth it. I loved having a higher dps creature early on in the game. But as soon as I hatched a glutterfly, I switched to it because I prefered the dot damage it did over the flat damage of the wompit. When I got the tartil, I stopped using all previous pets because the I loved the fire damage ticks and wide aoe. So, yeah I wanted to make it. Besides that, the wompit is the first creature you can get to level three, and you'll have to have the garter for it to be level 2 first anyways, so I'd do it.

I used the wompit all the way through the Savanna and even into the Bawg. The level 3 Wompit is a solid hitter for straight physical damage, and the toughness buff is nice. I combine the wompit with the appropriate elemental damage on Flux as needed. Will try out one of the Bawg pets now that I have found a few of the eggs.

How do you know pets buff you? I had no idea that pets gave any kind of buffs...?

Look at the creature in your compendium - at the bottom of each entry is the buffs from having a domesticated one
