How to use bait when fishing?

As the title says, how do I use bait when fishing?

You don't use it while fishing, you just put the bait on water and that spot becomes a fishing spot If I remember correctly, try that.

Yup, also to put it on the water spot you have to do that from build mode. It took me a few minutes to figure that out. :p

Yeah, I just crafted a bait thinking that maybe later I would use it. Then when I was expanding my base in building mode I got surprised with seeing the bait in building mode :D That's how I figure it out that I should put it on the water :D

Thanks, the problem was I had not crafted it, I thought I had and was getting frustrated about it.
