Save game?

How do I save my progress in the game. I played a little while earlier today, and when I went back to it, I had to start a new game, as continue game was grayed out. Thanks in advance.

The game saves automatically once you reach a certain point after exploring awhile.

I explored for 38 minutes last night & today the "Continue" is greyed out?
Only "New game" to choose. That is very annoying.

I agree with phototime. There should be some indicator of when you could exit the game without having to start it all over. This really should be fixed by the developer.

The game saves automatically each time you press ESC and open the pause menu.

What do you mean by opening the pause menu? When I press escape, I'm given 3 choices: continue, settings, and back to menu. Thanks in advance.

And the moment you see those options the game has been saved.

Yes that makes sense Pillbo Baggins. It clearly does *not* save when hitting ESC as I had to re-play *a lot* when closing the game. I was about to close the game but now I know that I should probably keep until I get to my painting again. Thanks for info. This is really badly explained in the game. You should be able to save where you are at any moment really.

After lading the game it will ALWAYS spawn you in the painter's room but the next room you enter will be the one in which you have left the game. There are very few derogations from this - if there are a siries of rooms strictly connected by each other than you will enter the primary one, but as I said there's only a few of those.
The game doesn't actualy save when you progress on the painting.
If you lost progress because the game didn't save after hitting ESC could you please provide a video? It might be a very rare bug. Thanks

This is just not happening for me. I have played for about 30 minutes, picked up keys, but even with hitting Esc, every time I restart I go back to the beginning and have to listen to the tedious 'Oh God.....' dialogue over and over!
Serious issue, unless I am doing something wrong.

OK, I see now. You have to visit the painter's room before the game will save.

it's ok now. Im not sure, but it seemed to me that a reboot was needed.
