Locked in a Room

Did a number of searches and couldn't find people with the same issue. Loaded up game and got into it for the first time, travelled down into the basement into the room with the ouija board, but now I'm locked in. I collected all the pages that were in the room, stared at the board for a bit and tried a few words, but I have nothing.

Am I supposed to be locked in this room? Is there a way out I'm missing?

Edit: I just restarted for now. Curious as to why I was locked in there though.

To leave the room you need to use the board and write "EXIT" or "END".

Thanks, completed the story (so far) and read around to discover it's the Halloween Event room. Just wasn't aware of it at first.

I think you should warn the gamers about this somehow, because it's really frustrating to start the game from the beggining because of this..........

Yeah guys, got trapped same way ) It's a nice easter egg or whatever, but you should definatelly put some clues or notes there. Just started myself, and got into it right away ) And after I put "Exit" on the board, the game send me back to Main Menu. This is cool for a bonus, it's just shouldn't lay around like that thats all ) Mb keep the door locked, and give the key at the end?

I was actually trying to get in there after reading the update, loaded my game at the ending but it seems I can't get into it from the end.

Do I have to start a new game (or chapter 1) to get in? If so, probably works better the other way around right? Either way I want to check it out before it goes away.

Uhm a bad game design moment I guess... I just started this game and went walking into the basement. STUCK. Just leave that door open if its nothing more than an extra! I thought there was some solution to this room. Nope. I know I found the key to the office, but one likes to wander around freely and it's definitely BAD when a player gets stuck in the story because of that.

Thank goodness. I got stuck in that room, nearly lost my mind (and my keyboard) trying to get out. Now I can carry on and actually find out about this painting. I wandered downstairs straight away, and then stuck in that room.

First time I played this game I wandered into this room in like the first 10 minutes of game play, I ended up thinking that was the way the game was going to be played, so I got frustrated and deleted it.... 4 years later i'm looking at the Layers of Fear 2 store page and I see so many people talking about how great the first one was, so I decided to give it a second try, but this time I stayed away from the basement, and ended up enjoying the game.

Got locked in the Ouija board room 5 mins into my first playthrough with no way out. After reading this post apparently it's part of the halloween event? How bad was that design decision?.. it's put me off playing the game now.

Kinda silly that it would put you off the game, just go play it, lol.

Once you get out, never go back down there. The rest of the game is good, just that bloody basement was the annoying part
