I don't have my screenshot now, but I got the "wife" ending, and on the letter she wrote she still hates me...
Things to note, I didn't push the chair and I didn't pull up the painting from the pit in chapter 5... I also choose the door with the melted wheelchair. basically I just do a speed run and finished the game in 40 minutes.
Oh and I get a mouse as the code for the padlock in chapter 3.
BTW shouldn't we be able to see the outcome from chapter 4 onward by seeing at the painting whether we get the painting we want or not? since at chapter 4, I can already see a silhouette of a woman. And by chapter 5, I can see that the painting is definitely a painting of my wife. just in unfinished state.
When i got the Painter ending i chose the door with the Paintings not the melted wheelchair, other than that i did the same things and got the ending i wanted.
I always chose down(left) on the elevator too when there was a choice so i didnt die a single time.
hmmmm can you at least look at the painting by chapter 5 whether you get the painter painting or not? or is it still a painting of a woman?
No the painting still looked like it would turn out as the girl when it did infact turn out as the Painter
i.e. Pulling the paintings from the pit. Pushing the wheelchair/lamp down the hall?
1. Did it "speedrun" style. Only touched/picked up things I needed to progress.
2. Avoided wife/any scary "events" that weren't mandatory. (Includes going DOWN (pulling left) on the elevator instead of UP (pulling right/ towards bloodstain).
3. Chose the "paintings door" as opposed to the melted wheelchair door.
4. Used the crank on the door as opposed to the chain.
5. Didn't pull the paintings out of the pit.
6. Didn't push the wheelchair/lamp
7. Followed the rat instead of going through the glowing door.
So, just as clueless as before as to how to get the painter ending.
Here are my thoughts.
To get the wife-only ending, you need to be "conflicted" in your "choices" in the game. i.e. If you don't do it ALL one way or ALL another way, you get the wife ending.
To get painter or wife-child you have to make ALL the "right" decisions for that particular ending at every "choice" that the game gives you to determine which ending you need.
Here a things that come up to my mind.
Chapter 1:
Chapter 2:
- did you open the treasure chest with a baby doll inside when you hear a baby cry?
- did you choose the left door (with paintings) or the right door (with melted wheelchair) when you saw a mouse running pass the corridor
chapter 3:
- in the elevator, did you choose to go up (right pull) or down (left pull)?
chapter 4:
- did you feed the toy cat with a potato near the beating heart doodle on the wall?
- did you open the cabinet with a doll and a shotgun toy in it near the end of the chapter?
chapter 5:
- what did you get for the password for the padlock? (cat, dog or mouse?)
somehow I always get a mouse (and a wife ending).
- did you follow the glowing door of follow the rat after you encounter a dead end with a falling wood form the roof and a fire?
- in the elevator, did you choose to go up (right pull) or down (left pull)?
- did you pull the paintings from the pit?
- did you use the cog or the chain to open the locked door?
chapter 6:
- did you push the wheelchair with a lamp on it through the corridor?
- did you open the safe with a spinning top in it near the end?
That's all that I can remember of. I'll add more things when I remembered some more.
BTW can you avoid falling though the door on the floor in chapter 6?
