Because, if it was to be the same concept as in DS3, I dont really care(Not that it is a bad game as such, but we have enough of these types of games IMO).
As a result, I think this is going to be one of those franchises that will go one of three routes.
1. It's completely dead. DS3 didn't sell too well, and the brand isn't really on anyone's list of greatest games ever. As a result - I'm more than confident to say that we'll never see this franchise continue.
2. Sqaure Enix has other fish to fry, really. They were in a very tight bind for a long time a few years back, but they seem to be turning things around. Basically, the latest Deus Ex, the revamp of FFXIV, HD remakes of their classis games, and the new Tomb Raider franchise has helped them turn things around. That said, who knows whether they can afford to make any other games outside those titles? Maybe after Deus Ex 2 is released and puts them back on the map, they can take some risks. This franchise is simply too risky at the moment. But, in a couple of years - maybe not. That said, currently, ARPG's are the hot-games at the moment. So it wouldn't be a huge stretch of the imagination for them to continue with DS3's design. Then again...
3. They don't really need another ARPG frachise, thanks to Deus Ex. The original 2 games were more oldschool, party based dungeon crawls. Those are starting to recieve a little bit of a renaissance thanks to a lot of really well made indie games - most notably of its kind, Obsidian's Pillars of Eternity. Other similar games like Wasteland, Shadowrun, etc. My point is, it wouldn't be too big of a risk to make a somewhat smaller game using this sort of design.
Some "Jowood style" job from Obsidian here.. Take a great franchise and kill it badly. GG !!
