Details about the co-op
I tried google but it is incredibly annoying finding xbox sources and nothing that describes the co-op player limit.

Questions:
Is it campaign co-op?
What is the player limit for co-op?

The game is very much a PC port of the console version so most of the information you find regarding the XBox version is going to translate pretty well to this one.

As to your questions, yes, it is campaign co-op with a limit of 4 players but please be aware that you can not join someone elses game with a character from YOUR game saves- games are hosted and when you join you can choose to play as any character that has not already been chosen in that particular gaming session. Any items you find or progress you make is retained on the game host's save file but not on your own.

This is a bit off-putting but bear in the mind the multiplayer was added with "couch co-op" in mind- the online multiplayer seems to be a bit of an afterthought.

If my friend hosted and I joined his game and we left the game to come back to it another night what happens to my character I used would they lose they items/skills/XP etc why did they make such a crap co-op feature like this why not just make one that you could dring your character in from SP mode???

say your friend is the host and you the client. only the host gets a save file, so you say as the mage can't take that character into someone elses game, but your mage character is saved in his "the hosts" file, so if you play together keeping the same host nothing is lost.

Agreed the multiplayer could have been much better- one of only two gripes I have with this game.. It can still be really fun though if you play with the same people regularly.

It was a horrible experience. The camera angles gave one of my friends a headache, very limited and abrupt akward change of position made the game barely playable. The combat felt very akward, don't know why you can't click to pick up items and use certain skills. Combat demands quick reaction and having to deal with camera controls and the positioning of the character for skill use made me miss a few times.
The game just feels meh, just made me want to go and buy Diablo 3 or play torchlight 2 which suffer from none of these problems.

I don't know who thought it would be a good idea to lock characters in one screen at all times, we coulnt play the game for more then 40 mins. It was only 6 bucks so no huge loss

If you can get past the camera issues the game is perfectly playable. The abilities and attributes do seem a little simplified but the overall game experience isn't bad at all. The obvious solution to the problem would be having each player control their own camera but that isn't happening.

As far as the coop mechanics of guests not being able to save, I think more games need this. I allows a group of people to easily jump in and out of a game without the pressure of needing to be there EVERY SINGLE play session.

This is actually an excellent point. I used to have a lot of time on my hands to play but that hasn't been the case for the past few years- nowadays I almost prefer single player games only simply due to the fact that I can never seem to keep up with my friends in games where play time dictates progress and even participation.
