Rajani is impossible
How the hell am I supposed to beat Rajani???? I am already playing in ROOKIE difficulty and she just kepps killing me with her overpowered energy balls attack.
I was initially impressed with this game, but this boss fight is WAY WAY too hard, this is just impossible. They messed up the difficulty real bad in this game.

I'm not sure what to tell you other than it's definately not impossible even on the hardest difficulty. It is a tough fight, though, for sure. Like with many bosses it's just knowing the pattern- attempting the same failing strategy over and over again will likely result in the same result.

If you're having trouble try checking walkthrus or search youtube to see how others are doing it and weigh that against what you're doing.

Thanks, but I think, I'm done with this game, when I set the difficulty to casual I want the game to be easy and not extremely hard. Glad I bought it during the sale and didn't pay more.

Seriously? :D

Do you use your dodge ability and defensive(regeneration) abilities? That should allow you to deal with her easy enough, atleast on casual.

totally agree, balance? wtf is balance? - according to developers.

You cannot button-smash your way through this game. I played similar games before, (i.e., The Lords of the Ring: The Two Towers, Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone, and Jade Empire.) I was able to button-smash to the end of those game, by using mostly one trick: kept punching the "A" button on my Xbox game controller to spam the standard attacks. I occassionally used special attacks in those games, but mostly for variety. Those games did not required me to master powered attacks or special abilities to win.

I tried the same trick with this game. At first I just spammed the A-button at everything. It worked on normal enemies and minion crowds... but not on bosses. In this game, you would have to learn to time and use BLOCK/DODGE/TELEPORT (the LEFT TRIGGER on your gamepad) and SPECIAL ABILITIES, (the X, Y and B buttons.) You cannot just use only the A-button to overcome bosses. If you do not learn to time your dodge and use your special abilties properly, it is almost impossible to get past bosses in this game.

(Actually, you can defeat Rajani and early bosses with spamming standard attacks, by grinding to a much higher level than required to get past them. You can use only the standard attacks to defeat Rajani if you grind to 20+ level, which I did the first time I played this game; or you can defeat her at about level 10 with carefully timed dodge and special abilities. However, you will never be able to defeat late bosses with grinding: the level cap is 35 -- you simply cannot grind to a high enough level to get past late-game bosses without some skills.)

Once you master how to use block/dodge/teleport and special attacks/abilities, the game becomes very easy even on hardcore mode. It is also very important to chose and upgrade your abilities/proficiencies/talents carefully. Pick the seven proficiencies and sevent talents that best suit your playstyle. Pick the sevens that complement each others, and focus on upgrading one at a time. Do not spread your skill points across too many skills at once. (You should max a heal proficiency and talent ASAP.) If you upgrade your skills haphazardly and without a plan, you'll be screwed down the road. (You will be able to respec your main character or any companion when you reach the expansion part of the game, but you have to be able to reach that part first.)

^that was beautiful, ktchong.

But because of the ranged attack variants Rajani uses once in a while, you could end up being wiped if you trigger those too often. And that can be a problem even on easy. So one strategy could be to figure out when you can move in close and interrupt the never-ending wipe attacks. What character did you try with, by the way? Just curious.

Invulnerability on dodge moves can be used to even walk through fire without being harmed. The only issue with that is that you don't do much damage in the process. So - patience, a lot of patience.

That particular fight leads to the conclusion of the DLC content. It was released after the game, so it's likely meant to be even harder than the actual final boss of the game. I've beat it several times alone (highest difficulty), and you have to depend on your NPC for damage (or to tank if you can let them take hate on the boss first and keep them up) on certain characters. One of the moves in the second form does enough damage to reliably be an insta-kill. You must avoid it. You also must learn to recognize periods of boss inactivity. Those times are safe points to resurrect your NPC or to hit adds.

More recently, I played through on casual mode co-op with a friend, and he said it wasn't as tough as I had been claiming it would be. The difficulty of this game is just that it doesn't ever let you not dodge and block (note: you can't block your way out of that insta-kill move), and that starts right from the beginning of the game.

Good luck.

Actually, only Lucas could effectively block some bosses - including Rajani. He qwould need the passive focus regeneration ability+proficiency to stay in blocking mode, (Unbridled Wrath+Endless Wrath,) because each successful block took off a huge chunk of his focus. If he ran out of focus, he would start taking damages. The only attack Lucas could not block from Rajani is the blue fiery pits that open on the floors.

Characters like Anjali and Katarina could never block for too long because they do not have any skill to passively and quickly regenerate focus. Anjali in particular has problem with focus regeneration: she does not have any ability or proficiency to help her regain/regenerate focus - other than one talent, Militancy (which gives her only a small chance to regain additional focus when she delivers critical hits.) So Anjali and Katarina have to dodge.

I believe Reinhart also has skills to passively and quickly regenerate focus, so he should be able to block as well.

The focus loss of blocking is based on the percentage of hitpoints you would have lost without blocking. Any character is great at blocking as long as that percentage can be minimized (difficulty dependent). Conveniently, the block statistic even helps drastically reduce the incoming damage because it is directly subtracted from the incoming damage (decreasing the size of the numerator of the percentage calculation). Armor also helps by reducing damage in general (numerator again). Stamina yields more hitpoints (increasing the divisor of the percentage calculation). You will not lose any focus if you can get the percentage low enough, and you can block forever without consequence. Of course, there is a lot of viable area inbetween a free block and a useful block, but, by not building that aspect up much, you're essentially a glass cannon (and you must focus on dodging) when everyone has the ability to be an immovable wall (except for that DLC boss' one move).

An example for casual difficulty: the Anjali at the end of one of my saves is at 3030 hitpoints with 89 block. Standing around in the last DLC area without blocking or dodging, that character will die in less than 30 seconds (re: easily). An average attack is 131: (131 - 89) / 3030.0 = 0.01386 (1.386%; free). A heavy attack is 652 damage: (652 - 89) / 3030.0 = 0.1858 (18.58%; less than 10 focus loss). Now, respec'ing that character to take advantage of the 5x 5% agility to block yields 140 block. A medium attack of 352: (352 - 160) / 3030.0 = 0.06337 (6.337%; free). Another heavy attack is 654: (654 - 160) / 3030.0 = 0.1630 (16.30%; less than 9 focus loss).

The key to stopping Rajanis super ball manuever in her second phase is simple. Stay in close range to her. If you can get to her before she fires off the big attacks they dont do anything.

With lucas I just ccharged her every time she teleported and her attacks were useless against me. Made her very easy on hardcore
Rajani is the most strong in this game

Rajani to attack the user of the young number.

1st user
Get away from the Rajani Attacks

2nd 3rd and 4th user

Enemy is weakened
Katarina Chosen Prey , Caress of Suffering
Reinhart Clockwork Trap

and Attack
I am stuck on the witch on the first level so I think the DLC is off my wishlist now oh gawd. Is this game like Divinity 2 where ranged classes are easier to use than melee classes? I would really like to beat this game someday.
