Recommended level for Shinra HQ

I am 3,5 hours in in the game at the moment and so far I am loving it but I get the feeling I am a bit underleveled due to the fact that I haven't grinded at all.... Right now I got Cloud lvl 12 and Barret + Tifa lvl 11. Is this underleveled and should I ground a bit or am I ready to kick some shinra buttocks?

This game is paced nicely enough that for most of it, you don't have to grind. Don't worry about it.

Grinding is totally unnecessary while you're in Midgar.

The game doesn't really require you to be too strong for the main storyline, you mostly need to grind for the sidequests which are actually quite challenging.

if you want to beat the best mobs you would have grind. I would suggest to make sure you have your limit 3 breaks on the all the character unlocked and aeris level 4 before she has her special event happen

I actually like to grind a bit when I can, its not really necessary like the others said for main story stuff. Having played it a few good times on the PS, I actually like to be around 5-12 levels above the curve, it makes the boss fights in some areas go a lot smoother, and can increase the overall fun of the game. Although, like said its not necessary, my first playthrough I didnt grind at all, and the game was still amazing. Good gaming to you sir.

I really whipped the floor with Shinra HQ because I was force fed some grinding, the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ that I am I could not get the timing right to sneak past the guards... so after 10 or so tries the game was just like, allright you idiot you can pass but I had gathered a lot of XP in the meantime haha
