Best way to configure controls for a PS3 controller?

I already have a program for binding buttons to keys, but I just want to know which button should go to which command. I'm hoping to make it so that the controls are just like the original FFVII PS1 release. Any suggestions?

I have an xbox 360 controller for pc and set things up to the best I remembered for psx.
For some reason I can't use the triggers as buttons, so I had to assign the last two with the thumbstick buttons

ok (x): button 1
cancel (circle): button 2
menu (square): button 3
start (start): button 8
switch (triangle): button 4
page up (L1): button 5
page down (R1): button 6
target (select): button 7
assist (L2): button 9 (thumbsticks for me)
camera (R2): button 10 (^^)

try that and see if it works out for you
