Help! I cant open the safe in the Shinra mansion!

I can't work out how to open the safe after finding the 4 sets of numbers. From the start i press right until i hit 36, confirm, left until 10, confirm. Right until 59, confirm, and then right on til 97, confim. Just says fail each time and i can't work out what i am doing wrong!

If you go above the number your suppose to, it will fail. Has to go on 36, if you hit 37 etc... it won't work

Did you read the the letter with the clues? I'm not sure you absolutely have to but I couldn't make it work before I did that, but I could just be dumb and didn't notice I messed up the numbers by going past them or something.

Pretty sure you don't have to read the clues on the paper; if I remember my first time doing it I didn't know about the fourth invisible ink selection and looked up the correct number in a strategy guide.

You have to read the letter clues or it doesn't register I noticed this when attempting it before I found clues. Also if you go even one number too far you will have to re-enter code

ok, make sure you do not over shoot a number, ex would be if you hit 98 when going to 97, it won't work then

No you don't. I grabbed Vincent again yesterday and I did not read the clues.

Played the game with a friend at the same time and didn't find any clues but still got it. If you overshoot a number like everyone else said it won't work.

not true, i didnt read any of the clues and i was able to do it. you just have to do it perfectly or it'll fail. took me a couple of tries.

You have to stop EXACTLY on the right number, you cannot go over the number. If you're trying to roll to right 36, if you land on right 37, it's considered a wrong roll.

Like everyones saying, don't overshoot the numbers. reading the clues aren't necessary
