key to midgar

anyone know where to dig in bone village to get the key to midgar?

When you get the option of what treasure you want to look for you have to pick the first option then the third option. If you manage to find the treasure it'll be the Midgar Key but only after you're done in Mideel.

I can confirm that this guide works, I got Midgar Sector 5 key there and W-item Materia at the place the guide suggested.
However, before you dig for the key, you have to visit Midgar and talked to the man outside the entrance and listen to him saying he lost his keycard in Boneyard.

That's just a hint; you can dig up the key any time after Cloud's back from Mideel without talking to that guy.

I can confirm that you do indeed have to talk to him first, I tried digging for the key like 15-20 times (and I know exactly where to dig) with no success. Only after realizing I had to talk to the guy in order to dig it up did I get it, on the first try even.

i didn't talk to the guy and i got the key anyways.

Droprate % might change... because I had the same issue, digged at the right place for 10+ times with no success. Then I looked online for help and they said what I wrote, I went back then to Midgar and after I talked with the guy at the gate, I got the key at my first try as well.

The key can randomly be at 5, 6, or 7 on that map, and it's a one-in-four shot that one of those sites will be the correct site (otherwise you'll get the crappy potion site). Theoretically hiring those guys to survey for you would help point out the correct location. I didn't bother paying them (i'm cheap) and I got it in three tries without going to the Sector 5 Midgar entrance first.

Seems like without a guide it's Impossible to figure this game out on your own. I love the Game but it's too complicated lol
