problem with mt. corel huge materia
I cant get the train to stop? i don't understand why. the onliy thing i can think of is that i'm using a wireless keyboard and its not transmitting both button pushes properly. it doesn't even attempt to move the levers

edit: its a logitech sk-7207-c
remapping keys did not work...
thank you all for your help wound up hooking up a corded keyboard and getting it on the first try also had 5 minutes left after fights

I had no problem with this and I'm using a wireless. Now in saying that, it could be down to your specific wireless keyboard.

For the sequence, I would consider remapping your keys to a pair of buttons that you know would work if pressed together if you suspect keyboard ghosting to be the issue.

When I played through that section, I experienced the same issue. No matter what I tried, the levers on the screen never actually moved. I ended up just randomly pressing the lever keys (and still not seeing the levers move), and after 15-20 seconrds, the train stopped. Try just pressing the keys as quick and as randomly as you can, and hopefully it will work for you like it did for me.

I believe the actual solution is to press the corresponding keys at the same time. In the original PS1 version this would mean mashing Up and Triangle/Menu, or Down and X/Cancel at the same time (As Cid deduces that since alternating the levers is accelerate, simutaneous shifting equals brakes). You're supposed to do this three times before the time limit runs out; though if you're like me and you breezed through the fights, you'll have four minutes to do that.

Thanks
I actually had the same problem with the train. it would not even show the animation of the levers, but smashing the up cancel and menu buttons randomly it actually sopped the train
