Question about leveling Tifa's limit breaks

I went first and did a bunch of grinding to get everyone the needed kills for their level 3 limits. Only character I have remaining needing a limit is Tifa.

Considering how her limit works, to get the number of uses for a level, does it need to be set at that level, or could I use level 3 and get uses for level 2 as long as level 2 doesn't miss? Or do I have to set her at level 2 to get those uses?

Pretty sure you have to set her at level 2 to get the second attack for level 2 with uses. I dont think it matters if the specific attack hits or misses, just as long as you use her limit at the right limit level.

put slash-all on her and take her to the forested area across the river in nibelheim. you can 1 hit 6 enemies at a time to rack up the kills needed to get to the next limit level, assuming you have both limits for a level if that makes sense.

Read my post again. I have all the needed kills already. She has her first and second level 3 limit. I need the second level 2.

Tifa needs to use her level 2 limit break 7 times to unlock the next. To do this quickly, kill off your other 2 party members and use a hyper on Tifa. Get in a battle that you know won't kill you, but you can still take a moderate amount of damage from. Select defend or just don't do anything until you run low on HP. Heal yourself when needed and use the limit break as it comes. Your limit bar fills as you take damage. Normally, you would have to take damage equal to 111% of your total HP, but the hyper will lessen this % by a good bit. Having all other party members dead will cause the enemies to only attack Tifa. You should be done in no time.

BTW it is not 80 kills per character, cloud and Tifa need more than 80 kills as this guide will show you and if you count the kills you make you will find they make the guide.It will also tell you if you read the information that to get lvl3 you need to have lvl 2 limits set.

And yes if you do a little research, rather than expecting to have everything handed to you, you will get the information you need.

Oh for your benifit scroll down to the table and go to the paragraph that starts "To obtain the second Limit Break of a level" and you will get all the inforation you require between it and the table of content. It's the third paragraph up!

If I'm reading it right, the question wasn't so much about how to earn second limit breaks as it was about Tifa's Limit Break mechanic where all of her limits are chained together and whether she gets credit for executing the first limits of previous levels if she has Tifa set at level 3.

The answer is no. Even if she does use Beat Rush and Waterkick at level 3, she won't get credit for them unless her limit is set at their respective levels.

Yes, that was exactly what I was asking. I have both her level 3s and 1s, just not both 2s, but I missed a lot on the 2 so I wasn't sure if it was that or I needed to set to 2 or not, not how to earn level 3 since I've done that. I just did a ton of grinding at once for kills with everyone so I wouldn't have to worry about who kills what.

And to some people above, I checked the exact article you mentioned and it doesn't say that very well. It states they need to use the limit break, Tifa is an exception that she's using all of them that she has when set at her highest level. Per what you guys told me to check it says "To obtain the second Limit Break of a level, the character must have used the level's first Limit Break a specific number of times." and Tifa does use it when she uses her level 3 and she can miss with hers as well so yeah, I was wondering why it wasn't being learned.

In that case you would have been looking for the paragraph just above the table with the limit break information. That would have explained it and given you your answer. Sorry I didn't get what you were asking here.
