Re-direction problem; can only see black screen

When I start up my game, the title screens work fine; the eidos and sqaure enix, etc. But when the select screen appears, i can only hear my arrows selecting with music in the background. When I inevitably select new game, i see the starting title video just fine, but when the train pulls up and Cloud jumps off, the background is completely black with the exception of the characters. When I went into battle, I could see the animations just fine but not the fighting selection menu.

I looked around and dissovered that this was a redirection issue for many people. I'm not entirely computer savvy, so i have a hard time trying to figure out what that means exactly. I am admin, the only problem i can think of is that I am emulating windows 7 off of my macbook pro. So naturally with VMware (what i'm using) all the files are shared with the macintosh side.

How can I possibly fix this? I'm not sure what I am supposed to do; if someone could post me a little video on how to take FFVII out of a shared folder that would be perfect, or step by step if you'd prefer. It's just that FFVII is one of my favorite games and I would really just like to play.

So since the main point of VMware is to share files between your mac and pc, the problem lies withing vmware itself.

you need to drag your mouse to the top of your screen to drop the vmware menu (like you would to send for the ctrl alt delete) and click on the virtual machine tab. Go all the way down to sharing and unclick your documents folder and in my case, the actual FF installer!

It's so obvious now it seems kind of sad, lol. But yeah, it works fine now!
