Can I keep Aerith alive and/or have Sephiroth as a party member?

I played this game way back in the day, and I remember having a Gameshark. I never bothered using it on FF VII but over 15 years later, after beating the game numerous times, I wonder if there's an easy enough way to keep Aerith in my party and possibly have the option of using Sephiroth. ( I remember the Gameshark method had him level locked)

Black chocobo save editor might be able to do it. I havent used it in a while, however i think i remember being able to just "put" her in as if nothing happend. Of course not in the cutscenes etc..

I think by using a save editor you can get Aerith back. That or you could use the debug room. I dunno if the debug room works on pc though so you might need to look that one up.

I heard that the JENOVA save editor doesn't work with the steam version.

black chocobo should work but it may happen that your save file gots deleted...

Only through save editors can you place invalid characters in your party. Expect cutscenes to crash your game if you try this though, so it's important to remember to remove the invalid character from the party before the cutscene occurs.

Yep. That's what happened for me on psx. The slots in your party are used to act to the in-game scripts involved and if a wrong character happens to be where it shouldn't, you'll get a nice game crash.
