FINAL FANTASY VII

FINAL FANTASY VII

Statistiche:
PSP Version is better (in my opinion) >:D
Due to the aged graphics, the PSP eboot version is way better than this one. The smaller screen of the PSP actually makes the graphics look crisp and the FMV look less dated. Not to mention the only time you'd actually sit through this old ♥♥♥ game is during a road trip/train ride/airplane etc.

The PSP version is a direct port of the PS1 version. Only reason it looks better is because of the smaller screen and compressed images.

If you played the PS1 version on (or connected the PSP to) a 50" HDTV it would look absolutely shocking.
I just don't see the reason to play a game like FF7/8/9/Chrono Cross/Legend of Dragoon etc. on a 50" HDTV... They've become travel games to me. But to each his own I guess.

Also I do know that the PSP versions graphics only 'look' better because they are on a smaller screen. That's why I said it in the OP. The reason that they look better doesn't really matter to me, only the fact that they look better in the first place.
I think you mean, "In my opinion, the PSP version is better".

Buying a PSX, PS2, PS3 or PSP along with the game would be quite a bit more expensive than the $12 USD that this costs so it's not really a feasible option for everyone.

And in light of your comment about how it doesn't matter how it looks better...."Hey baby, it looks real nice compared to this tooth pick doesn't it?!"

I actually kind of like playing old RPG's on my PC ( emulated sometimes since i still have all the disks and the console in my closet ) in windowed mode so that I can use chat and such. The bad graphics aren't as noticable. It's not about the visuals for a lot of us. The entire problem with modern games is that so much time gets spent on visuals, that a lot of beautiful looking games come short of actually being fun. Too many games are just way too easy even on their hardest settings and achievments don't really helps since few games have acievments worthy of being called such so it's more like a scavenger hunt. I'd rather pay 12 bucks for a game I have fun with and looks like ♥♥♥♥ than 60 for a game that looks super pretty but is too easy and not overly enjoyable unless all you're doing is admiring the graphics.
Yea there's no question that FF7 is one of the greatest games ever made, no matter how you play it. Thanks for the replies guys!

It's one of the greatest of its generation. Not the greatest ever made. For the time when it was created, how it exploited its console strength and hide its original weakness and also how it was as much intuitive as easy to play and to understand, it was sure a masterpiece.

Now, it's a pack of data who have lost most of its strength since many better titles (in every way) have been released. If that game was to be released today and didn't had its history it had back then, its score wouldn't exceed 5/10 without any changes to how it's currently is.

I won't spoile the story in case someone haven't played it at all, but now, the story explained in FF7 is actually close but not yet at the same level as a B category science fiction movie. Back then, due to restriction and how hard was to release even just a 3D game, it was amazing. Now, SE simply drain every bit of life juice they can from that old piece.

After it got released, the genre took a hype and many cheap copies were released, which actually made it stand even more out. But with the next gen consoles (especially the portable ones) and many games with 2x-5x more content and more complete story and not as much hang-over and dismissing, the game have really lost at its own game. (If they didn't released both the movie "Advent Children" and also the other bits of stories like Zack's story on the PSP, this game was actually getting forgotten due to how much its troll the players at giving half-finished stories.)
Wow, it's true: Steam is worse than gamefaqs.
FFVII is overrated by a lot of people because it was the first RPG they had every played.

He clearly said "one of the greatest games ever made". Read the entire thing before you post something like that.
