Freeze in Cosmo canyon after boss battle and cutscene. [Spoilers]
I've just defeated the Gi clan boss in the Cosmo Canyon caves and went on to the cutscene where Red sees the statue of his father. The scene ends and eventually fades to black and just stays that way. I have to ctrl-alt-delete and click end task and thus close the game.

I tried going through the caves again and got the same lockup so I'm kind of stuck on what to do. I am running mods for improved character models and music but I don't think they would have an effect on these scenes.

Any help will be appreciated. :)

Might want to try turning off the mods. I have played this game for years and never used those mods and never had a freeze in that spot. But at the same time, most of that was on the ps1 version. Try cutting them off just for that part and then turn em back on right afterwords if need be. If that isnt what is causing the problem then I cant think of what would :(. Hopefully someone can be of more help. Btw what os are you running this on? Another question, are you using an integrated graphics card?

I took your advice and removed the mods for that segment and thus fixed the problem. :) Now I shall put the mods back in and continue. Many thanks for your help.

No problem! Glad I could be of some assistance (even if you had to watch a great scene w/out the better looking models.). I think it works normally on most machines, but if you were playing on a laptop w/ an integrated graphics card it could create issues, as I was going to try out the exact same mod you are talking about, but having one has kind of stopped me from even trying.

It's just been awesome playing 99% of the game these mods to improve the music and character models. I always dreamed to being able to do that back when I had it on the PS1, plus I no longer have to worry about losing my memory cards or scratching the disc. :D

I'm playing through the game for the first time on steam. I encountered the same issue. However the only thing I have moded is the music and I did it by downloading, converting, and labeling the files. Then I replaced them. While doing this I did notice that some of the original tracks varied in length; some by almost a minute. So on my second go around, on the cave, I just waited a couple minutes, and wouldn't you know it, the game loaded the next scene!
