What issues are you having with your keyboard? Generally you just have to hit your OK (default X key) to get from the keyboard function screen to the New Game/Continue screen.
My issue is once I get to that screen my game just doesn't respond to my keyboard at all. Some support would be helpful. Surely I can't be the only one with this exact issue.
You are definately hitting C or X on your keyboard at this screen, or whatever your OK button is?
Nothing is greyed out. It loads up perfectly to that point and then my keyboard shortcuts aren't recognized at all. Now I tried something that is strangely working is it accepts punches from my number pad. It responds to it perfectly fine, yet no matter what I do in the options it will not let me reset to my arrow keys despite every other game I've tried working perfectly fine with it.
Find it remarkable you can hit the OK button to get to this screen, but then can't hit the same button to start the game?!
A friend of mine found the problem. I had to delete the .cnfg file in my Steam folder. Apparently it was reading the old FFVII settings from the old PC release. He still has the original discs and the little cardboard piece that outlined the keys for the number pad. That is how the original game was outlined, deleting the config file fixed it right up.
What I find remarkable is my statement clearly outlines I knew very well how it worked as I had played the game successfully and it stopped working suddenly yet you assumed I was another "Oh hey I don't know how it works" thread. Thanks for the input but it's been resolved. I hope this post can help others who have the same issue.
Where did you find the .cnfg file? I tried looking in my steam folder and i couldnt find it anywhere. Been having the same issues with the keyboard interface not working at all for me.
Computer -> Locak Disk (C) -> Program Files (x86) -> Steam -> SteamApps -> common -> Final Fantasy VII.
You should find it there in that main folder. Remove it and stick it to your desktop and try it. If it doesn't work you've found the wrong file, try checking in the data folder.
Fix your sh*t Square!
