Original PS1 Controls?
Recently bought this during the holiday sale and have a controller that resembles a ps2 controller that works via USB. So far I have yet to find anyone providing the original button layout for ff7 either here or online. I tried the default joystick settings but they are just wrong when playing this classic game, but I cant for the life of me remember the original setup. I wanted to know if someone could provide me with the ORIGINAL PS button layout for this game?

I would like to have the original feel to playing this game as I did during my childhood and would appreciate whoever could give me a hand, Thanks :)

D-Pad = Character/Cursor movement
L1=Turn left(field)
R1=Turn right(field)
R2=Target toggle(battle)
Select=Help cursor(field) Help window(battle)
Start=Pause(battle)
Triangle=Menu(field) Switch character(battle)
Square=Hide command window(battle)
Cross=Run(field) Cancel(menu)
Circle=Interact(field) Confirm(menu)

Let me know if I missed anything.

-edited- It took me some time to find it, but here is a controller layout for FF7.

The game only has Partial Controller support, so if something ends up not working dont be surprised as that would be the reason for it.

easiest way is to turn off steam controller support altogether and use Xpadder to assign keyboard strokes to your controller, making sure to have reset controls back to default in FF7 first

Its a bit of a nuisance having to turn steam controller on and off all the time but it works perfectly

You can just remove the bindings in the games controller configuration here in the steam client and it'll work perfectly with Xpadder. Steam won't remap the controller after you've saved the controller configuration.
