Differences Between FF7 versions
Here is the most important question of all my life. No seriously. What I would like to know is the specific differences between Steam Version and PS1(PSX) Version (And PC Version if you can).

I want to know about graphics, musics, glitchs and other things. Much more about glitchs. Are they all still there or are some have been corrected? Because I don't know if I should take it or taking an old PS1 iso.

Thanks

I know about that. The thing is I want to know about those "...which would fix a number of graphical glitches, as well as other glitches". Which glitches? I heard the Magic Defense Bug was fixed. But what else?

I've put a bunch of time into this game on Steam. In addition to the list above, let me clarify:
- Cloud Saving is nearly always down. It's completely unreliable, and you can't access your game with it enable quite frequently. Nevertheless, you can disable it and continue on your merry way with the local copy thats saved.
- The Speed Square minigame is faster, but has targets that make it almost trivial (if you know where/what they are)
- The music can get very glitchy if you alt-tab a lot.

That's something nice to hear. But what about glitches or musics? I heard they changed the OST. True? And about graphics? I mean, paying 4.41€ for that since we can get on an emulator..

- Magical Defense Bug
- Water Altar Bug
- Chocobo Mini Game Bug

All of these bugs are corrected with the Steam release of FF7.

Well, you can choose to steal it (emulator), or you can choose to buy it (Steam). Really, thats an ethical question you need to figure out your stance on.

The music is identical on the Steam release to that of the PS1. The FMVs were upscaled to look better. Shaders were added to make models look better.

I'm not stealing it since I have the original version of the game...three times. But what I wanted to know was about disk change. for Steam Version, you don't have this problem but for PSX?.

God no. Even if it could be nice, it's not like an enhanced edition of FF7 (Yet it could be something useful).

Now the last thing I want is...Does this game worth to be paid for the steam version?

at least the music... on psx its .mp3 and on pc midi

One thing I want to know - has the translation/dialogue improved even in the slightest? I loved the game, but dear god, reading through it was like someone randomly dropped half the pages from the script. Failing that... can the text and dialogue be modded? I wouldn't mind a retranslation project.

No. I red it supposed to be OGG format now. As for the translation, it's the PC version, slightly improved.

But it still doesn't answer to my question. Should I take it or toss it away?

I heard you have to create a Square account to play FFVII Steam. Is it true? And Music really are better than the supposed midi files?
shortY 20 DIC 2013 a las 15:30
yep, need an account to play it.
Meyrime 20 DIC 2013 a las 15:35
It cut me the wish to take the game. Having to register on Square for playing FFVII (And probably FFVIII) is something really nasty coming from Square... Why an account?

It's some kind of hidden marketing research (actually Steam too). Through this trick they have a clear imagine how big the interest on the FF games is. They also want to make you familiar with there own online distribution platform.
