Really? So... both SE and the fans for 15 years have simply ignored this blatant design flaw?
It's hard to believe.
Can you bypass that in FF8? I mean maybe there's a difference between the PS version that I played recently and this PC release on Steam but I didn't know you could rearrange the summon order. As far as I knew they stayed in their respective areas like in FF7.
Then again until my second playthrough of FF7 I also didn't realize that you could use that giant exchange materia screen to more easily plan out your stuff... =_= lol.
The problem is that they actually added new bugs to the old ones... and useless "features" like cloud saving and character boost without polishing the rough edges first. Don't even get me started on the music.
Don't, get me wrong, I love the game but certainly I'd like a little bit of dedication towards us customers. It's hard not to think "money grab" when SE keeps behaving that way.
In don't know about PS or any other console, but I own the old PC version and you can customize that.
I don't mind the cloud saving feature since it is a nice backup for your files and it doesn't affect your gameplay, either. If, for instance, their servers are overloaded or your internet is down, you can still play using your locally-saved files. I wouldn't use something like the character booster myself, but it doesn't negatively affect me personally so I just ignore the fact that it exists. :P
Also I thought this PC "re-release" contained the original FF7 music? I know the first PC release had the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ stuff but this is the... re-release, which sounds so dumb.
And as far as I'm concerned, SE isn't going to do ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with FF7 unless they're seriously in trouble financially. Reproducing FF7 is like their ace in the pocket, man. And after the days of FFX I've felt the merger between Square and Enix was a downhill ride... :/
