"Requires a Square Enix account." No thanks
I was going to buy this game, but then I saw the "Requires a Square Enix account.".
No thanks, I'm not going to buy this game if I have to sign up to yet another third party website just so I can play the game.
To all the fanboys who would say "Oh, another thread about this": I've been an FF fanboy since the NES days, so you're entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to not give a hoot what you think.

It takes like 30 seconds to sign up. Really if you don't have an account with them you should. I had an account for years before this even came out on steam to use squares fourms. Almost every game they've come out in the past 10 years has had a card in it asking you to sign up with their website for deals etc,.All i'm saying is it's not that bad and VALVE doesn't own thier game so of course they want you to sign up with them first.

It really isn't that bad making an account, once you've signed up you can play offilne anyway. I really don't see why people feel the need to complain about this yet again.

I'm a FF fanboy too & I still signed up to an SE account so I could play XI, 7 & 8. Take my money SE.

There's no accounting for laziness these days.

Why complain when you don't care about what people say then :p

I guess this only proves that the facebook generation are going to drown us all in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of over-shared information.
There is no legitimate reason why Square Enix should know who does and doesn't play their game. If I were to buy this game, I'd create a fake email account with no PII's for them to track.

I bought it without realizing and I'm a little pissed off. sure, it's not a huge deal, but it is an unnecessary minor annoyance. there's no reason why I need square enix account to play it so I feel i should be given the option. Maybe it's just something i should "get over", but I don't particularly enjoy being forced to do anything no matter how trivial. (and before you go saying "you weren't forced" realize I bought this game under the assumptions that it would function similarly to how the original did and only dicovered the additional detail after they had my money)

There are lots of reasons but, i'm not going to go into them you would never listen. You buy it if you want and do that or don't whatever. If you do have fun it's a wonderful game.

Agreed. Had I known that this game, FFVII which is pure gold in any aspect, required a danged Sqaure Enix Account I wouldn't have bought it either.

are u guys for real? it takes 20 seconds to make an account and then u NEVER have to log into it again.. lol cmon dont be so lazy
It's not laziness. It's common sense and a known fact that alot of companies sale the email addresses to other companies and then you get a ton of SPAM. I think that's the ghist of the situation. I know it is for me. It's also kind of in light like going to one car lot buying a brand new vehicle cash out rite and them telling you after the transaction is made and finalised that you've got to take a flight to the vehicles country of manufacture and pick it up. That's my perspective on it.
Besides. This isn't the only game here on Steam that has a seperate launcher from Steam itself that requires you to create an account, so forth and so. I.E. See any of the D&D Titles, SW's Titles and others as well in which you have to input all of the login information every single time because the blasted things don't save your login information. Paid or FTP it's still there.
But that's just my logic and reasoning.

You realise that to play games here you registered to steam & gave them your personal details, so how is making a SE account any different?. Sigh all I'm seeing is people QQing about having to make an additional account.

Ya, but the idea of steam is: all my games in one place with easy access and fast downloads. A third party account shouldn't happen, in my opinion.

I don't like that you need to have Internet to play, but its good to can save your data in the cloud.

You can play it offline & I'd disable cloud saves though since people have reported their save files vanishing. Ive made several save files just in case.

I'm not really in the habit of checking the system requirements of almost twenty year old games...

I'm also not really sure how people are so ok with this. There was a time way back when that you didn't have to sign up for a third party account for every game you purchased. even games that were exclusively online didn't require it. Do you really think it'll be better when every game requires its own account even if its a two decade old rerelease?
