Question about Sepheroth (end game)
Is it possible to beat Sepheroth without (Knights Of The Round)? I remember being lvl 88, all maxed materia and best equips but he still kicked my ass. My friend, who had kotr was 13 levels lower and Sepheroth was easy for him.

You can beat either forms without KOTR. Using Omnislash makes it easier, also having everybodys hp at max with ribbons equipped helps.

I mostly wrecked him using the Quad slash materia, otherwise I used W summon. If you have Mime, you can do the Mime Omnislash system.
By design Sephiroth is beatable going straight to him without doing any sidequests. He is the main storyline boss. Emerald and Ruby weapons were designed for after sidequest fighting.
Depending on if you're smart or not, having Knights of the Round could actually make him harder to beat.

Bizarro Sephiroth gets some bonuses to HP, attack, and defense depending on if you used KOTR on Jenova SYNTHESIS, how many level 99 characters you have, average party level, and whether you have both Yuffie or Vincent, one of the two, or neither.

If you used KOTR on Jenova SYNTHESIS, Safter Sephiroth doubles his hp from 80,000 to 160,000. For each level 99 character you have (including those not in the party you use to fight him), he gains 30,000 HP and some other bonuses to attack and defense that I can't remember.

Basically, the better equipped you are to fight him, the harder he is. You can find his AI script online somewhere and get all the specifics.

I beat Sephiroth on my 1st playthrough on the original PSX version without KOTR because as a kid, I had no idea it existed. Then I looked at one of those big book guides and felt proud...and dumb haha.
**** SPOILER ****

The final form of Sephiroth wasn't even that hard, for me, back when I played it on the PS1. And when I say final form, I'm speaking of the 3rd form, not the very last ditch effort where Cloud gives one final attack.

But the second form (fighting Jenova Sephiroth, or whatever it was named) was hard, since all the body parts kept regenerating and I was seldom every quick enough. For that, I ended up maxing everybody's highest OD's right before the fight, and ensured I saved them (by using magic instead) for this fight.

I never did get the KotRT summon.
^- the feels that comment brings out lol....i too did it without KotRT back on the ps1...took me like 15-20 tires to get it right cos i was young back then and didnt really do enough during the rest of the game to make the end game stuff easier....back then i think the highest champ i had was like level 60 something, i had pretty much 0 of the high end summons or materias or weapons lol.

I mean i legit just played the story, ran away from pretty much every random encounter, and only did the main story lol, never made use of the ribbon item ect ect lol.

This explains why the first time I fought him I was fighting him for 45 minutes straight. Didn't lose, it just took forever.
i always found Bizzaro Seph harder than safer saph
Yeah I mostly just use attack (x4 cut is a huge time saver), he normally dies pretty quick, first beat him when I was about lvl 65 with Barret, Yuffie and Cloud.

Just make sure you use big guard (enemy skill Hast + barrier + Mbarrier) and Regen at the start. white wind (also enemy skill) can avoid the annyoing cure reduction from Mbarrier. Ribbons are obviously very useful.

I never knew about the HP bonuses Sephiroth gets depending on the earlier battles. I thought it was only VIII that did this. Always something to learn about this game.

Of course, I beat him on Low Level run without powerleveling any materia. The materia with the most AP I had was Cure2.
You dont need Knights, just make sure you have Ribbons equiped on everyone.
I beat him with 2x slash Cid with his ultimate weapon, tons of fenix feathers, and cloud with deathblow linked with MP absorb, cure, ultima and HP plus. Cid's a beast with his ultimate weapon. Also, I beat it without KOTR, but I did use Odin and neo bahamut. It wasnt hard, I had my party between level 65-70
Why did you necro a 10 year old thread?
