Hasn't aged good and game mechanichs are what was considered ok at the moment.
playing old games should always done under historical considerations
and yes, there is stuff in old games that makes you want to punch someone.
Is not a remastered version, taht probably that would have helped a bit on backgrounds, etc.
as for the guides, well they are fan made guides and free.
I am sure you can purchase extensive guides , well written and endorsed
So don't waste your time ranting, but rather embrace the experience, and think how it was to play the game back then where 3D graphics and gameplay like that were absolutely rare. :)
I love FF7, it's by far the best game in the series in a global way, so don't get me wrong, I commented on what I belive its the truth, for me it can be great and no other game may ever live up to it according to my standards but I'm well aware of its flaws comparing it with today's games.
HAHAHAHAH. In defence of this part, if you go the wrong ways (there are 3 ways) The one way leads you to like 4 "Sources (stat up) and a very cool materia (maybe w-item, or w-magic) and the other "wrong way" leads you to the shinra building which has a bunch of weapons including, I believe, Cait Siths ultimate. And the vending machine that ate your money before will give you 2 sources.
I do agree that this game can be super annoying with its mechanics and controls some times. And I have used a guide whenever I am unsure because I am going for 100% completion and there is lots to miss. BUT if you want a more straight forward game then go with something more linear like FFXIII. The open world of FFvii, the ability to get lost and confused is part of what makes it great.
