What is in your opinion the most useless materia?
I think it's HP<->MP, what do you think?

Mega-all was for the most part useless as it disabled doublecut and flash, and became slash-all.

When you first get Mega-all you're likely to have mastered and gotten another double cut or slash-ll materia. Putting Mega-all onto a charecter not equiped with those materia make it mega handy. Especially if you build a charecter as a mage and keep the physical materias for the others.

Can't say I ever used throw.

Throw was a lifesaver in certain circumstances. Throwing a weapon did BIG damage. Handy on bosses.

Aeris's materia. It doesn't do anything at all. (Yes, I know about Holy etc. I am simply quoting Aeris to be an FF7 NErd)
So true LOL

Gotta say cover for me.

In all situations, I either want my characters to get hit - so they can get their limits up and develop them

Also having it meant 1 character was taking a lot more damage once it levelled up - I spent more time healing him than anything else.

Linking it with counter attack was marginally useful but I still don't rate it

You gave reasons to why it's useful and say it's useless?

My set up for FF7 are two mages, high MP and low HP. Having an attacker with Cover, HP plus and Counterattack really helps cover the other 2 while dishing out damage, especially when levelled up he's costantly dishing out damage!

You can use cover late game with HP<->MP on the same character to have a hyper version of what martin_cross explained for limit training.

^ 8 bravers , 6 blade beams , 4 Meteor rains. hardly seems worth it.
you'll most likely have all the 1st limits for each level by this point anyway.
the 2nd limits for each level are based on kills, in which flash is way better.

Ummm yes those are Clouds limits, if you really want to try and be smart, switching characters from the off and using a mix of cover and enemy skills is the quickest way to level all the limits...

I simply pointed out a use for cover, never said it was the best...

Kill your other two characters and everything will wail on the surviving character. Cover redundant! And this would be quicker.

True, true, that would seem the quickest way. If you are only training one charcters limits...

I never actually grind for limits though as i simply switch charcters out as they master limits and same for materia as it gets mastered, except enemy skill, thats needed lol

Barret, Cid, Cloud, thats the most likely party everyone will use, unless there making a point of using other characters. they have the best limits and triple growth weapons on cid/cloud.
why use anyone else?
there is never any need to grind limits, they come relativly easy.

Yuffie has the third highest dmg output for a limit, also her ultimate weapon is very useful for a few reasons.

I said I don't grind for limits, I know this.

Just curious here, but could you show me your profile for like 5 mins? Then you can go back to private.

lol nothing like scamming, I am so legit at trading that if i wanted to get it you would have already given me your password ;) This is of course a lie lol just me exaggerating the point

All I want to see is your hours and achievment list for the FF titles and if you play any other JRPG's. Its because of my job, it tought me to do this, I just find it helps me understand where someone is coming from.
