I was waiting for a sale to pick up 7 & 8 mainly for nostalgia purposes (and for traveling) and signing in to play is not very nostalgic.
Sad that I wont be picking up FF7 until a community hack is availble for this problem (yes I consider it a problem, and doubt a hack will be made). Totally buying 8 though, and if Square can properly port IX, X, and XII, ill buy those as well. Thankfully I have my original discs(7-12), a PS2 and a laptop that can run the banned E word.
Making an account is hardly a hassle, I bought the game for the nostalgia trip since my original ff7 is lost somewhere along with my ps1.
SE is unlikely to port the other games you mentioned & this has been discussed to death on other threads.
Seriously its just impatient gamers whining about this crap.
Oh great I can block their spam mails, thanks. How about not getting spam from square in the first place. At least I bought their game. I gave them my money.
And I wouldn't call myself impatient. As I said, I am waiting since release to buy it.
The priciple (not time, or effort or spam emails) is that this game came out in 1997 first released on a platform that did not even have a way to connect to the internet then later on the PC which again didn't force you to connect to the internet. Yet upon it's re-re-release it gets slapped with drm (even if its not "real" drm, having to sign up before getting the privaledge to play is drm to me).
Also the other FF games that have been released on steam do not force you to sign in to Sqaure's servers even just for a minute, why does FF7? <-- if you can answer this question, I may change my mind and buy FF7 here on steam, otherwise my t*****t is nearly finished downloading.
I'm sure this has been beat like a dead horse, and I'm fine not arguing over it beacuse like I said I have other ways of playing this wonderful game. Just like the conveince of having all my games on steam.
I also have the princible of Not buying games that come with day 1 dlc, or paying for early access games that become f2p (did it once, because i didnt research enough). Not trying to force others to believe the same way (god knows day 1 dlc is as popular as ever) just wanted to get some facts before buying the game. Since i got what I came here for, peace. :)
You have literally wasted more of your life moaning about it and haven't purchased FF7 and been unable to play it since then because you refuse to fill out a form. Whatever "principles" you've applied here have made you miss out on one of the greatest games ever. I filled it out and haven't been bugged by it since. I've played so many hours of this and have loved every minuted. It's a shame you missed out.
Anyways, got the game installed and running without having to deal with steam or square. Thanks to R.G. Catalyst.
Except for it's not. There are 3 other ways to play FFVII on PC without having to go through steam. Orig. 98 pc release copy (least likely), emulator, or a torrent of the steam version cracked ;)
Yeah, no... I have played every single FF for now that are available on PS1, 2 and 3. The PC version came up for me so I can play whenever the TV is used by my griflfriend. But as long as you are happy to tell people to ♥♥♥♥ themselves, great.
