Fixed? *sigh*. It takes 5 minutes, you only have to be online the first time, after that you can play this single player game offline until your heart is content in exchange for a few spam e-mails.

Its the principle of the matter... especially when you can get the game (exact one on steam) illegally without the hassle. FFVIII, FFXIII or FFXIII-2 do not have such requirement.
I was waiting for a sale to pick up 7 & 8 mainly for nostalgia purposes (and for traveling) and signing in to play is not very nostalgic.
Sad that I wont be picking up FF7 until a community hack is availble for this problem (yes I consider it a problem, and doubt a hack will be made). Totally buying 8 though, and if Square can properly port IX, X, and XII, ill buy those as well. Thankfully I have my original discs(7-12), a PS2 and a laptop that can run the banned E word.

What principle? You just need to make a SE account ,its easy & you don't even need to sign in each time to play online like martin cross said.

Making an account is hardly a hassle, I bought the game for the nostalgia trip since my original ff7 is lost somewhere along with my ps1.

SE is unlikely to port the other games you mentioned & this has been discussed to death on other threads.

I feel you pain Eralebus. Since it was released I am wating to buy it but won't do until this "non hassen, no problem, tiny thing" problems is fixed. I am also tired to explain to people why this is a problem.

Yeah, and I am doing this with steam already. Why do I yet again have to give my data to square? What's the point. Make it optional. If people want their data synced, good. I don't. I also wouldn't buy a EA game on Steam to then be told to use origin, or games for windows life, or that crap that ubisoft uses. It just makes no sense.

Taking 1 minute to make an account is hardly a hassle & its a 1-time thing. SE isnt going to steal your personal data & sell it like some paranoid people think. You can block spam mails from them too.
Seriously its just impatient gamers whining about this crap.

You don't understand -- as very few people do. It is _NOT_ about the time it takes or the effort to create the account.

Oh great I can block their spam mails, thanks. How about not getting spam from square in the first place. At least I bought their game. I gave them my money.

And I wouldn't call myself impatient. As I said, I am waiting since release to buy it.

On the same page with ya Peikko.

The priciple (not time, or effort or spam emails) is that this game came out in 1997 first released on a platform that did not even have a way to connect to the internet then later on the PC which again didn't force you to connect to the internet. Yet upon it's re-re-release it gets slapped with drm (even if its not "real" drm, having to sign up before getting the privaledge to play is drm to me).

Also the other FF games that have been released on steam do not force you to sign in to Sqaure's servers even just for a minute, why does FF7? <-- if you can answer this question, I may change my mind and buy FF7 here on steam, otherwise my t*****t is nearly finished downloading.

I'm sure this has been beat like a dead horse, and I'm fine not arguing over it beacuse like I said I have other ways of playing this wonderful game. Just like the conveince of having all my games on steam.

I also have the princible of Not buying games that come with day 1 dlc, or paying for early access games that become f2p (did it once, because i didnt research enough). Not trying to force others to believe the same way (god knows day 1 dlc is as popular as ever) just wanted to get some facts before buying the game. Since i got what I came here for, peace. :)

The game now comes with Cloud Saves support that is stored on their servers. In order you to access their servers you need to authenticate yourself to them hence their sign up.
You have literally wasted more of your life moaning about it and haven't purchased FF7 and been unable to play it since then because you refuse to fill out a form. Whatever "principles" you've applied here have made you miss out on one of the greatest games ever. I filled it out and haven't been bugged by it since. I've played so many hours of this and have loved every minuted. It's a shame you missed out.

I don't use steam cloud saves, why in the world would i want to use squares? (I, imo, dont think cloud saves are needed, but i know how to open a game folder and copy my saves before I reformat).
Anyways, got the game installed and running without having to deal with steam or square. Thanks to R.G. Catalyst.

It seems to be a moot point for me anyway--the registration link for me gives a 403 Forbidden error. Anyone else run into troubles with this?

Nope, just tried to register and everything went up fine, except i tried to log in using facebook and instead of allowing me to log in, facebook opened normally inside the tiny log in browser. I had to close and restart and then sign up using the conventional method.

I don't get why everybody's so butthurt about the SE login. It took me about a minute to register, then that was it. Honestly, if that prevents you from playing one of the greatest games of all time, then you can just go f*%k yourself.

Except for it's not. There are 3 other ways to play FFVII on PC without having to go through steam. Orig. 98 pc release copy (least likely), emulator, or a torrent of the steam version cracked ;)

Yeah, no... I have played every single FF for now that are available on PS1, 2 and 3. The PC version came up for me so I can play whenever the TV is used by my griflfriend. But as long as you are happy to tell people to ♥♥♥♥ themselves, great.
