Blue Chocobos
I don't know why, but I can't seem to get any blue chocobos. I can breed the green ones like crazy and they have the same requirements from what I've read, so this is getting annoying.
Anyone have any suggestions other than hit the guides or keep trying?

EDIT: Impulsively tried mating the two greens I had, gave me a blue..... Now I need another green, funny......

You need to reset the RNG or you will repeatedly get the same result. Try fighting some battles, or preferably feeding them some greens.

  • You need a Good or a Great Chocobo to breed. (works best with great)
  • Good = "mmm this seems like a good chocobo" - Found in Gold saucer area
  • Great = "This is a great chocobo!" - Found in Mideel Area.
  • Max these choco's out (about 70 Greens) on Tantal 400 gil or Sylkis 5000 gil Greens and race them to S Class or high as you can. Tehio will be a problem for you.
  • Breed these two using carob nut. - Nut stolen from Vlakorados that roam woods near bone village (must be male and female choco's duh!)
  • Likely get a green Chocobo. Mate this with one of your Great Chocobo's using Carob Nut (again race it to S class)
  • You should now get a Blue Chocobo.
This is how to get a gold Chocobo:-
  • Mate Green and Blue Chocobo using Carob nut. (race to S class)
  • You Should now have a Black Chocobo
  • Get A Wonderful Chocobo - "This.... is a wonderful Chocobo!" - Icicle inn Area
  • Race Black And wonderful to S class Or high as possible
  • Breed using a 'Zeio' Nut - found on small island NE of Chocobo ranch. its called Goblin Island - Steal Zeio Nut From Goblins.
  • Congratulations! You're the Proud owner of a gold Chocobo

I know the mechanics, just got RNG screwed. I didn't even know the greens mating could yeild a blue though.

There is no need for S rank (only if you want to get better stats), one A and one B is enough.
From what I understand, from both this time and last time doing breeding, the higher ranked chocobo more often yeild colored chocobos, rather than more yellows.

i didn't say mating 2 greens would give a blue if you read my statement more carefully. i said mate a green with a great Chocobo
