7th Heaven modding/achievements

Is there any way to use 7th heaven and still have it launch through steam so you can get achievements?

I've got it running fine modded but noticed my steam doesn't even say I'm playing ff7

I later learned it's basically running ff through a wholey different engine so theres no way to ever have achievements through it

Gezz, so the solution is play one time with mod and another without

I don't 100% know, but i believe that 7th heaven emulates a virtual disc drive that ff7 is played off of. It's not played through the normal .exe, and I think theres no way to get around that. You can use mods that don't run through 7th heaven, like remako, reunion (If you want to do that), song edits or model swaps that just change the files. That's fine, but if it's launched through 7th's launcher it's a different game.

In case people are wondering, it is possible to get the game running via 7th heaven in steam.
In the launcher hit settings -> game driver -> advanced and toggle steam compatibility.

Haven't gotten any achievements yet, but at least steam registers that the game is running.

Steam overlay and achievements do work using these settings.
Bought the original FF7 Steam version a week or so ago purely to play through with 7th Heaven Mods and after doing this, was very happy to see that it all works fantastic with Steam and I was clocking up achievements.

Achievements work too? I thought 7th Heaven used the old version of the game so steam features were incompatible. That's news to me dang. I just wanna play the vanilla game using FFNx without the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ launcher deleting my saves everytime, even when cloud saving is off.

Yes, that is exactly how it works and is how I am currently playing.

For me it has been, yes.

I have my Steam folder/library and 7th Heaven (version 2.5 stable build) folder running from a separate drive (D:).
Not from my Windows (C:) default drive/Program Files (x86) etc.
Been playing this way for a few weeks now with no issues, got another achievement a few hours ago and its clocking all my hours played as normal.

Using a Microsoft Wireless Xbox Series X/S Controller.

Thank you both for answers, will be sure to get the game soon in that case. Just hope it works with DS5 controller without issues. Also i read that you need to disable Cloud Saves for the game on steam if you use 7th heaven, so you your saves don't get corrupted?

Beat FF7 remake today and now i must see the end of the story :)

A bit late to ask, but did you happen to find that you can use the mods and still get achievements?

Run 7th Heaven as admin, sometimes changes aren't saved correctly
