Using save editor (spoiler warning)
I cant seem to find any info about this, but I was planning on using a save editor to bring back Aeris and wanted to know if there was anything I needed to watch out for or any scenes that would freeze or crash the game.

Also, yes I know that New Threat adds the ability to do what I want without issue but there were just too many unnecessary compromises to the script in other places for my enjoyment.

There's a curious question, I'm not sure really. Guessing here: Since Aeris' arc completes after the scene, having her in your party, shouldn't, affect anything. It's still a maybe tho, so I'd advise making a backup save beforehand.

I haven't tried on the PC version, but a very long time ago I used a GameShark on the original PS version to added her back to the party. I didn't get far. Any scene that required other party members to be present froze as soon as they triggered. I believe each character model's animations are programmed for each scene. Meaning that if nothing is assigned to her then nothing is loaded and then nothing happens. If you're going to bring her back this way then she may be limited to random battles and scenes accessible prior to the Temple of the Ancients.

Ah, then it'll likely happen on PC as well. I had the same issue with trying to add Sephiroth via gameshark, got him of course followed by a freeze at cutscenes. I wasn't sure about Aeris tho, thanks for the info.

I found one person's post who said that there were actually lots of scenes where she had dialog programmed, likely from before where final story decisions were made. According to that one post there are only a handful of scenes she has to be removed from the party but that was the original PS version and I havent seen any other posts that address it.
