Aeris / Mythril Bug?

So I got the mythril from the mine pretty early on. I am really trying to master the game this play through, so I already did a lot of side quests like yuffie's.
Now is the time for me to go to the temple of the ancients, aka get aeris' limit break.
I went to the house off gold saucer to retrieve it and the guy IS there.
But when I talk to him, the guy is not having it. No response that I have the Mythril.
Now here is the thing, The Mythril is not in my inventory any more and the sleeping guy won't give me another one.

I've googled for hours with no results any help?
I've got about 30 hrs into disc 1 right now and I really dont want to restart :'(

try getting the other item fromn the sleeping man, and then reattempting the mythril. That's a pretty bad bug, and I haven't heard of that heppening before.

Like I said I am trying to master the game this play through, I have already aquired everything he has to give, IE bolt ring etc.

Did you pick the downstairs chest by mistake? I think if you do this, he will take the Mythril and give you another item.

Have you progressed the story past the gold saucer? i.e. you have the Key to the Temple of the Ancients and that is definately your next stop?

This is all i can think. It doesn't explain why you no longer have the Mythril though (if indeed you DEFINATELY had it in the first place and didn't pick the wrong chest).

I remember getting Aeris' limits ready as early as possible with the Mythril ready to visit the old man and realised i had to go to Gold Saucer and progress the story line before i could get the Mythril...

I already have the key, and completed Gold Saucer. It is definately my next stop, no doubt about it.

I have revistied EVERYTHING as well. Only one other person has had this problem besides me and he gave up.

Then i'm at a loss and it would appear you've ran in to a very rare bug.

Not good. I take it you haven't made multiple save files on your journey to this point...

Well, since you DID get hit with a bug, may I suggest a less-than-honest method?

Just find an FF7 save editor and plop either the mythril or Aeris's limit into your inventory (make sure the game isn't on when you do this). Boot the game back up and have at it.

Oh, and back up your save before you do this, naturally.

I had no issue, i went and got great gospel the second i got the tiny bronco, you can get mythril multiple times so go and try to get it again. remember your number of battles has to have the same 2 last numbers. 44,55,66,77,88,99,111,122 and so forth

And don't you have to be given the Bolt Ring before you are given the Mythril?

already have the bolt ring, and he will not give me another. I already tried.

I can vouch for this guy. I remember recieving mythril atleast twice since i had no idea what was in the chest downstairs (turns out it was a gold armlet). Never heard of anyone else having this problem, but good luck fixing it. A save editor is probably the most reliable way of doing so.
