Game freezing: Junon Formation mini-quest
The game keeps freezing after going through the Junon formation drills [pressing ok, switch, cancel, menu, left, right]. After showing the victory pose, the game just freezes.

Is there any solution to this? As soon as I accessed the world map and saw the Sephiroth flash back, I traveled and found Junon and decided to check out the town. Now I've progressed to this point but I am stuck by this glitch.

I have tried:
Verifying the game cache... didn't work.
Uninstall and reinstall ... didn't work.
Restarted my computer .... didn't work.
Restarted FF7 .. didn't work.
Further clarification:
The commander shows me the tutorial as to what to do during the ceremony, but after completing it and showing Cloud's victory pose... the game freezes. Nothing progresses and the characters just stand facing each other. IS THERE ANY WAY TO PROGRESS/FIX THIS?

Worst comes to worst I'd get in touch with support, either from Steam or from Cnix (or whatever they are called), if you can't do it from the FF 7 launcher try finding thier site, shouldn't be too hard.

But GL with that.
Square Enix support is down, Steam support isn't helping [both Valve and player base] AT ALL

If thier support is down maybe it's on thier side? I can't see how it would be but, if they are having problems it might not be you, just keep experimenting.

Try going back one save game and come at it again.
Started a new game and.. rereached the part I'm stuck at.
Even worse is that now chocobo's don't work too. I can't get the chocobo materia and the chobos are stuck in their dance routine.
Has anyone else had this type of issue? None so far in the discussions but maybe they self-rectified and can offer guidance
Hi, I'm having 'Unknown Exception' errors and black screens at various points in disc one (irritatingly at the rather long Kalm back-story atm) that I've seen people have issues with before; the tinterwebnet has articles noting that a music file for pc needs replacing to prevent any blackscreen or freezing errors (my source http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=481177&page=41) but unsure as to validity. Anyone else have any better suggestions?
Thank you for your response but the file doesn't exist anymore/leads to an empty page that redirects to homepage.
Downpatch the game. There is now a good alternative tutorial to Bootleg on Qhimm.

To explain a bit the problem you have:
The game has a strange way to play some of the music. There is a double 'return'* command in the script. It is used together with other commands as a 'wait until the music ends'. The program for the old PC release, which was needed to play other music file formats (Mp3, ogg, etc) had problems with that and didn't played it correctly. So I think there is a bug in the current code for the ogg files.

*The return command is used as 'end the current scrip and return to the previous or main script.
Those solutions did not work. Thank you though.
Hey Nostalgia, sorry to hear you're still having trouble. Very, very long shot, but I've managed to prevent my issue above by removing my USB for my mouse from the laptop (I'd been encountering game crashes at various points, not anything specific like yours however) and so far managed to Cosmo Canyon without further incident. Best of luck to ya.
That hasn't worked either.
