Unlocking the Safe in Shinra Mansion
I've played this game many times before and I've never had a problem opening the safe. For some reason it won't let me do it and I was just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem. I'm wondering if it's a glitch on this copy sold on Steam.

It's not supposed to be a problem with this release, but there's two factors that might make it hard:
- You have to enter the code on a time limit. Not sure if it's 20 or 30 seconds, but it's not long.
- The numbers must NOT overshoot. If you're going RIGHT toward 96 and overshoot by one and stop on 97 instead you have to start all over again since going one back toward 96 won't count.

Both of those factors are correct, and both of them were exactly the same in the PS1 release.

Might be a bit harder on Steam as i remember the counter moving more quickly.

If you do it as above you should not have an issue.

Ya I got it entered within the time limit and didn't go over the number, put them in in the right direction and hit OK when I got to each number.. I still get a fail. That's why I thought it was a glitch. I'm gonna go through the game a bit more and see if it works later, but I'm gonna be pissed if I can't have Vincent on my team after going through everything. I'd rather just start the game over.

Is it possible to take backup of your saves?
If so, how about reinstalling the game and adding the savegames back in and see if that does the trick?

That's an idea.. I can look into it. Even if it doesn't work and I have to start all over, I'm not that far ahead.

it saves in your documents folder in a square enix folder and the code is right 36 left 10 right 59 and right 97, it works like a real save btw not like you cheap combination lock from school that you could go one off to the side
