how do i install a retranslation?

i just got to the part in the shinra headquarters stairwell where tifa calls barret the R slur and it caught me so off guard that i had to pause the game and process it. in the original japanese text this isn't a thing (she literally says "whoa, don't say something so ominous") and that bit of info made me lose complete faith in the official translation for this game

does anyone know how to install a retranslation? i know there are two (reunion and beacause) but i can't seem to figure out how to install it on to the steam version, only the psx emulator version. is it even possible to install a retranslation to the steam port?

You can download Makou Reactor and open the flevel.lgp found here: SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII\data\field

Tools>Find>Text type in word then change and save.

There's only 2 instances of the word and you're past both now.

yeah i'm aware that it's only said during that one part but i've also read that the english script diverges from the original text a lot so i'd all around just feel better about using a retranslation :(

The retranslation over at the link posted should be as simple as running an exe and pointing to your FF VII directory.

oh cool! i'll give that a try then :D i hope it works, i tried installing the mouth fix mod by sega chief that has a similar installation method and it gave me nothing but errors lmao
