Hmm, so i have Cloud back and Tifa in my party but i'm not getting Tifa's final limit break. I played the song but i'm not getting anything.. i did get 1 gil though..
I'm doing/done something wrong and i can't figure it out.

As far as the sequence of keys, the sequence you need to play is:

Cancel, Switch, Menu, Pgup+Menu, Pgup+Switch, Cancel, Switch, Menu, Pgup+Cancel, OK, Cancel, Switch, Cancel

However you have that set up on your keyboard/controller. If you're getting 1 gil, that means you're not playing it correctly, or possibly fast enough. You may wish to check how you have your controls laid out, if you changed the hotkeys it could be causing you not to get it by hitting the wrong key.

I cheat and have it written down in front of me on a piece of paper when I hit this part, because it can be infuriating to do from memory. Hope this helps!

Yea, i have them written down to :p
I know the song, and i'm pretty sure its being played right, it sounds it.

Could it be because i don't have all of Tifa's other limit breaks yet?

The way 7 handled the level 4 limits was to give you an item w/ the same name. When you used the item in the inventory screen on the corresponding character, it'd give you the limit break. It would sit in your inventory until you could use it (by getting all the others), so I don't think that would affect this puzzle. You'd still be able to get the item, even if you weren't able to use it.

The most likely thing (i.e. the one that got me for a solid two days back in the day) I could suggest would be to check the PgUp & PgDown keys on the settings page to be sure you're hitting the right keys. They change the sound *slightly*, and have to be hit at the same time as the keys they're added to above. I had 'em bound to other keys for the motorcycle game or something, and that messed me up.

Beyond that, I can't recall if you had to finish it within a certain time frame of the first note, so that *might* be a factor as well (?)

Surprisingly there isn't a video on Youtube of someone playing it in the game. I'll check over my controller layout just to be sure.

If you only got 1 gil, its because you did not play the piano the first time you revisit Neibelheim. You had to of played the melody on Tifa's piano at this time, which grants you 1 gil. And then the second time, which is where you are talknig about in the story, you will gain Tifa's final limit. This is from memory, so forgive me if I'm incorrect.

Not playing the piano the first time (memory) affects whether you get an Elemental materia as a bonus treasure, not Final Heaven later in the game. (I had to look that up too, cobhc1451, so don't worry about it.)

From the wiki on how to aquire FH:

"Final Heaven
Final Heaven is the final Limit Break for Tifa, requiring the Final Heaven manual acquired from playing the correct tune on the piano in her house in Nibelheim on disc 2 after Cloud returns to the party and while Tifa is in the party. It deals 2.5⁄8 times normal damage to a single target.

The tune to get the item is as follows:
[CANCEL], [SWITCH], [MENU], [PAGEUP] and [MENU], [PAGEUP] and [SWITCH], [CANCEL], [SWITCH], [MENU], [PAGEUP] and [CANCEL], [OK], [CANCEL], [SWITCH], [CANCEL] "

So...any updates, redrum? Did you get it?
dave4985 Jul 13, 2015 @ 3:21pm
redrum, in case you're still having difficulties, there's a forum post (it's on the first couple pages) where the OP says his PgUp and PgDown keys don't work on the original settings, but do work if he changes them. You could try re-binding those keys to something else and trying to play the song again. Hope this helps!

I'm using a 360 controller, i'm pretty sure i've mapped it out as intended. I think i made a mistake in Clouds memory, i don't remember anything happening to confirm the song had been played. I played it a few times then moved on.
So i started another game, I'm now on my 3rd 100% playthrough cus of little mistakes lol. At least this time i don't have to worry about getting Aeris final limit so i should get to Clouds memory much faster this time.

Do you know if the game confirms playing Tifas song in the memory?

So i was playing the song wrong the whole time.
Pg Up & Pg Down are mapped to RB & LB, they work fine in the game but do nothing on the Piano.
I was using the directional controls before, opps.

Edit: Pg Up & Pg Down don't seem to work whatever i map them to, for the keyboard or controller.
They work, just not for the Piano.. this is getting annoying. I've tried so many different keys and buttons for Pg Up and Pg Down and no matter what no note gets played on the Piano..

OK, I just tried getting it myself, to test if things were messed up. Here's the following setup information:

Party: Cloud, Tifa, Barret
Time: Right after the Lifestream sequence & getting Cloud back (went straight there from Mideel)

I did *not*, repeat, *not* go through Tifa's stuff in the flashback sequence in Kalm. (tho playing the piano in teh flashback gets you an extra Elemental materia around mid-game, it is NOT required for the Final Heaven limit break)

I went straight to Nibelheim, played the following keys (not being condescending, just thorough)-

Cancel, Switch, Menu, PgUp+Menu, PgUp+Switch, Cancel, Switch, Menu, PgUp+Cancel, OK, Cancel, Switch, Cancel

-And I got the item for the Limit Break, as maddening as that probably sounds.

Possible Issues - easy-to-miss things, maybe?

- You do have to hit the END key when you're finishing the above sequence. It's mapped to START. It's at the bottom of the list of keys you get if you say you don't remember how it goes at the piano - all that does is show you which keys go to which notes, doesn't affect anything else.

- Also, you need to be sure to hit PgUp *at the same time* as the key it's added to above (just hold PgUp down before you hit the key, and release at the same time). The PgUp/Down keys don't have sounds of their own, they just change what other keys sound like.

They make no sound? Well that explains why i'm hearing nothing and thinking the games messing with me lol
I didn't think to try holding one and pressing another note, i assumed they would make a sound of their own, thanks i'll give it another try.
