Failed to create useful Direct3D device
Name says it all. I can't get the game to run and I know it meets the systeem requirements. Every time I click to launch the game that message "Failed to create useful Direct3D device" comes up. Any way around this?

Make sure you have the latest driver for your graphic card installed. It is ever a good idea to post some specs of the system on which you want to try to play the game.

Well that could be a problem. I am using XP and whenever I download new drivers for my graphics card it says they are unsigned by Microsoft and don't work. I keep getting This device cannot start. (Code 10) on my drivers screen. It doesn't seem top recognize my graphics card which is strange. Its an NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT and amusing it on XP. Any ideas where I can get drivers that actually work?

What is your driver version?
No idea if this works: http://download.cnet.com/nVidia-Graphics-Driver-Windows-XP-Media-Center-Edition/3000-2108_4-10044975.html

If nothing else work try this out: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=14047.0
It will install a better openGl driver for game.

Go to Nvidia settings>3d settings and change in global settings preferable grafic CPU to Integrated graphics equipment and if the game won't work change to high-perfomance nvidia CPU. One of this changes may help. Changing to integrated graphics equipment helped me. I hope it will help you.(Sorry for bad english)

Getting this now, I've got the latest DirectX driver and also have the latest driver for my GPU. Literally no reason it should happen.

Solved by setting compatibility to Proton 7.0-6
