How do I get clouds 3rd Limit break?
Ok, I've played the game before and never had an issue of getting "Meteorain" by the time Im at lvl 35-40. I'm literally at lvl 67 and have not got it yet. I did some reading and it said that Cloud needed to have x amount of kills above everyone else, so I let everyone defend except for curing over the last three hours of group fights...not sure if this is a bug, but if I dont get it, Omnislash is definitely not happening.

I've checked online just now and the unlock conditions are a bit vague. But the most popular I've seen is kill 80 enemies with Cloud and also do it after obtaining Blade Beam. I'm sure it's not a bug, there's a lot of people in forums playing the PS1 version confused about how to unlock it too and they're in the 60s

I've had BB and CH since Mt.Corel...it just doesn't make sense. Like I said, I've had no problem getting it before. But I thank you for your input. :)

80 is a lot of enemies to put the killing blow on by just one character. It takes a lot longer than it should feel!

Are you farming for it or just playing through the game? Because you can complete the game long before you'd unlock Meteorain.

Sounds like you've started farming it anyway. A good place to go is the forest around Mideel where encounters of up to 5 weak enemies in one battle is common and using something like Beta or Trine. Equipping materia like cover and counter are also handy.

Start counting, just so you have a rough idea.

I must've really grinded back in the day I guess. I had Meteorain when I did Yuffie's very first sidequest and got her as a character. It's what I used to defeat the boss of her sidequest. Strange because that's really really early to have it now that I think of it

I bet you just didn't set the bar to limit2 to start unlocking it. You have to manually select which levels of limits you are now learning. I just started a new game (I NEVER rush limits) and i'm lv14 and just got meteo rain.

Meteorain by lvl14 sounds pretty rushed to me.

Oh wait a second... I think i am thinking of the lv2 limit. I must have the names mixed up, I have the one after cross slash. I sometimes think cross slash is limit lv2 when it is just the second one in limit 1.

Edit: yeah that's what happened. )_) sorry lol.

If my memory is right, it's not just how many enemies you kill, but how many you kill physically - no magic/summons.

Not sure if they changed it for different editions. The first limit break of each level (1-3, excluding the starter) is recieved for killing around 100-150 (might be higher for Cloud) enemies with that character; method is irrelevent. The second limit break of each level is recieved by performing the first limit of that level a certain number of times (around 10). It isn't necessary to learn the second of each level to progress to the next - I've learned Metorain before gaining Climbhazzard.

No summons, yeah, but I'm pretty sure using magic to kill is safe.

Ok, I have almost all the limits already, and only been playing a couple days, because I remembered the rules. First stage one limit A on each character gets used Eight times to unlock Stage one B, Then that character without using Summon must kill 80 enemies, Matra Magic is how I did it this time, but Bolt All is fine. It's enemies, not fights. So a group of five plus enemies, that you can one shot with Matra Magic, makes it very quick, this unlocks Stage 2 A Limit, note you don't have to have one B unlocked, to unlock 2A. You will not unlock 3A until you can set your limit to 2, then kill 80 enemies. So you can skip the B limits on all stages. Final limits are items you must find.

You still need all the second stages of all limit levels to be able to unlock limit 4 though.

The fastest way to rack up a bunch of kills is to go back to the cave by Fort Condor and equip a magic/all combo or slash all.

You'll get 4 or 5 enemies per battle and one hit kill all of them.

Forgot about needing all the Limits to get Stage four, despite having the item. Good thing I always go for Perfect, except for Aeris that is. Hardly use her at all.
