What kind of battle system is this?
Is it turn base or is it live turn base?

This will be my first time playing this and...well the past FF games I've played have always been live turn base. I always really enjoyed just thinking on what I should do than *aah aah...ok I just have to attack before they attack me!*

It's just something I enjoyed doing lol...where we really take turns on attacking.

You can set it to wait mode rather than active if you want to take your time. Note that pros play with active mode & battle speed at max. Wait mode is essentailly the ez-mode.

It is turn based, both ''living'' and not living, you can set this in ATB options:

Active: Same as previous FF games
Wait: Time is stopped when you're browsing secondary menus
Recommended: Time is only stopped on battle animations.

Wait stops time when selecting magic, summons, or items.
Battle Speed also affects the Fort Condor fight, so keep that in mind. Setting speed to max is 3 times faster than normal, while slowest is 60% of normal.

The battle systems are different depending on the game. In FF5 and FF6 setting battle speed to slow only slows down the enemies attacks(making the game easier). In 7 it affect everyones speed.
