No sound at all

Hi, I am playing FFVII on Win 8.1. I played a bit it everything was fine. Just the other day I wanted to play but I get no sound at all. Other games in steam have sound. Anyone had the same problem? or know what is happening?

Try deleting the "ffviisound.cfg" file under Documents/Square_Enix/FINAL FANTASY_VII_Steam. Doing this seems to reset the sound settings, it fixed a problem i had with sound effects.

It could be hardware related, i don't know what your setup is.

year 2020 and deleting that file fixed my problem on win 10. thank you so much, these sounds just are such a part of the game. thanks @red

I have the same issue except I have done everything to fix it and nothing has worked. I verified game files, reinstalled, and deleted the sound file. Nothing has worked. What should I do

The game also suffers from a bug relating to speaker hardware which can also cause no sound. I can't remember the details around it. But try playing around with that.

Couldn't find the file or folders in question for whatever reason. Don't know where else they would be.

Where is the file located? It's not in steamapps
