So for Mastering all materia...
Does that mean mastering every type of materia, or mastering every single materia that you can find in the game, including doubles?

That doesn't include doubles.

it means all materia, minus "underwater."

But just one time.

Plus you have to have it all physically in your inventory.

... Minus underwater?

The underwater materia you don't need to gain AP to master it & the enemy skill you just learn every spell on 1 piece of materia.

Ah. I forgot about the enemy skill one...

Be sure to look that up, because there are a few enemy skills that you will only get (at least) one chance to get.

If you miss it, then kiss that achievement goodbye.

Yeah, I did a full 100% completion on my PS1 save... I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that again...

Enemy skill isn't included in Master Command materia. Then there's Master Magic, and Master Summon. No Master assist, or Master Status exists. You can gain a Master Magic, for each time you have all the Magic Materia Mastered in your collection. Same with Command, and Summon. I had three Master command Materia, and one each for Summon and Magic on my PS one file.

You must have - in your inventory or equipped - one copy of every materia in the game.
All of these need to be mastered, except for Enemy Skill and Underwater.

Underwater you simply need to own. Enemy Skill you must have learned all skills on one materia.

Best way to master all materia AND have a full Master set, is to defeat Emerald weapon. So basically, remember NOT to blend your materia to get sets with Bugenhaagen, or you'll be mastering them all again!

Damn like you need them all at one time in your inventory? That's tedious, usually master summon takes way longer than master magic or command in my experience. On my original ps1 files I had already done everything on the achievement list and had 3 of each master materia and enemy skill. This'll be fun doing it again but having to wait to trade them all in until every materia is mastered kinda sucks imo

Yes, the summon takes the longest; KOTR is 250k AP alone. Go hunting for the red dots in the crater and put the longest ones in triple AP growth. The grind isn't too bad, it's not 10k kills in FFVIII, let's face it.

Honestly, for those who are going for a perfect game, just remember that the Earth Harp and Desert Rose are unique items, whereas for master materia, you can make as much as you want, although time consuming.
