This Cid is the best cid

Gotta give it to 7 it had the best Cid in the whole franchise. Yes better than gnarly toothed dwarf, yes better than overpowered grid guy, yes better than a ogloop or whatever that was called in 9. And of course he was better than balthiers jerk dad (even if he did have an awesome move).

Only Cid that's near Cids level is the Cid from ff13 cause he was an awesome boss. But he went out terribly. So that only leaves the chainsmoking tough guy from ff7 as the absolute best Cid in ff. Certainly not that guy from 8.

And 10 was just a Michael rooker rip off with a weirdo son.

Imagine a Cid so void of personality that the only thing you can think of is his boss form as his redeeming quality. While at the same time degrading the other Cids into caricatures since describing them as they are will reveal that Cid Raines has nothing on them.

Cid Highwind doesn't sound too good a character if you need to create simplified strawmen to bash all the other Cids to make him sound better. He's funny in FFVII, but he's also a total jerk, as well as an abusive partner, and the constant smoking habit is anything but attractive. Also about his tobacco use, I'm not justifying it as its bad for the environment, can cause second hand cancer (more shera abuse), and is a self harming practice.

But phreya said the turks were his favorite guys in FF yet in his own words. Hey if you like em as villains cool so did I before they switched them around and made them lounge goofballs. But the turks are huge ALCOHOLICS! They are constantly sitting in bars getting drunk.

And btw this is a huge double standard in anime and culture worldwide. People demonize smoking cause they think its gross or unappealing which it is. But what filling the body full of basically rotted liquid isn't gross? Killing mass braincells isn't self destructive? Least a smoker will just go and smoke a cig and chill and not start bar fights or get into vehicular homicide just my opinion. And the environment is bad so is second hand smoke... But what nuclear fallout from cherynobyl or all those pacific islands we tested isn't? Giving john wayne colon cancer (and many service men conditions) on the set of Ghengis Khan isn't destroying the environment at all? Gas guzzlers etc?

We got a lot of double standards with huge fuel usage and alcohol binging presented as normalized to be pointing out someones tobacco habbit. And most of the badguys and good guys in this love to drink. Hell tifa runs a bar and cloud says give me the hard stuff.

This is a trope in lots of animes from tenchi muyo to outlaw star and cowboy bebop. People love booze, its almost like an accepted thing worldwide but its really not that normal. Tribal people been smoking tobacco and other herbs far before society even began but that's demonized?

Dude the game is from 1990's. Different times and attitudes towards smoking etc it was more accepted compared to today.

Comparing 2020's standards to 1990's standards is insane and completely pointless to write a few paragraphs about it.

Also, even if smoking/alcohol is in a game, if it fits the characters personality then i am perfectly fine with it.
