I'm using a Xbox controller. What's the assist button?

Anybody actually know which button is the assist button?

I'd google what the buttons mapped to on the original controller then pick whatever button remapping overlay you want. I use a PS4/PS5 controller and steam deck and I always remap the buttons to the original PSX layout which is available through steam. I recommend learning how to use those controller button mappings, they come in handy when mapping old games to new controllers.

I believe its that button that puts the hand cursor above your character and shows the red arrows for doors/exits on the map, right? You've got to check which buttons are mapped to your controller cause they might be different than mine (i mapped my controls on 7th Heaven mod manager when I started the game)

But for me its the back button ◂ on xbox 360 and the delete button on keyboard. If you go into the menu of your game, under config, then controller if it says that your assist is button 9, then it should be the back button.

Go right into your game, go to the menu, then click on config, then click on controller. (It will say normal/customize next to it. Go to customize.) You should see that screen from the image above where it lets you map the buttons.

So next to ASSIST, for the joystick it says Button 9.
Button 9 = the small back button/change view button to the left of the center xbox logo.

I used an xbox 360 controller, but it should be the same thing on xbox one? Back/change view/select whatever that button is actually called lol, its that small one on the left of the center xbox/home button.

You can map all the buttons the way you want them to be on that menu though.
But if it says Assist is mapped to Button 9, it should be that small button on the left.
